Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

An ex colleague of mine who is still in DXC told me that he and others have been advised by their TL to apply for VR as their jobs are on the line for axing.
Glad I hit the eject button when I did. Took a lower wage but at least I am happy in this new job.

Can we get compensation for the mental trauma of all this being left hanging on. Told we are needed, but then not given anything useful to do. I used to have a manager who would let me wander off as long as I took the phone and could be back within a couple of hours. Not any more. You've gone amber. Where are you.... Do you need me? No....

@ek you're working too hard. try slacking off for a few months and try again. Maybe try to move to a new business area so you have nothing to show for the time.

@ek Strange methodology .. it would cost them substantially more (10x +) to pay me to retirement than paying me off, so why would they not pay someone off to go unless the mgr is stating they are invaluable (make yourself NOT if you want out imo).

@e7 I asked. Request was denied. Basically, "we can't afford it and why would we pay you, you can always leave", but in nicer, corporate speak.

@e8
"It seems to me the people who have gone so far have been bloody useless. They haven't done a useful thing in years some of them."

You'll learn - This is the only way to get WFR

It seems to me the people who have gone so far have been bloody useless. They haven't done a useful thing in years some of them. So we all follow the model and stop being useful. I now haven't actually delivered anything probably for getting on for 18 months. It's been so long since I've even been asked to do much more than check something that I probably have actually forgotten how to even do it.

@e6 You can just ask for voluntary redundancy. The way things are at the minute, they'll be happy to let you go that you'll probably get a nice sum on top to encourage it.

The only way you get wfr in the UK, is if the managers in the hierarchy really really REALLY want to get rid of you on a personal level, no matter how badly you've been treated, and you won't go.

@cm Are these tasks of any use? I find the clients just want endless paperwork, and paperwork to prove the paperwork. 90% of my time is spent on tasks that have value at all. They make it near impossible to do any real work. Your best bet is just to let it all build up and then ask your manager to prioritise. They will of course say everything is urgent. At which point you carry on and remind them that you have already told them 1000x this week that it all could have been automated and streamlined years ago. But they haven't. So unless they pick what's next, it will be ready when it's ready.

God I wish. After years of working I tried to leave, but they won't give me severance nor WFH, putting more and more tasks to try to force me to leave on my own instead of firing that would give me money and protection.

I've spent years stashing the pennies. Ready for this day. I've transitioned my income stream to a side hustle which does ok and investments which go up and down on a daily basis more than my monthly salary. The DXC money is welcome of course whilst they want to pay it. It's a lot of hassle and noise from people who are in chaos and clearly just making it up as they go along. Annoying there is no consistency. I've hardly done anything this year. Yet still they say no when I apply. What exactly do they want doing. I don't think anyone knows.

If you want out now is the time to ask, if you don't know the email address it is on Employee Connect, send the email cc your manager and then wait for the reply, either yea or nay.

Definitely VR and CR going on in April & May in UKI

What account is CR for?

A group of colleagues got made redundant and all the work got given to people at a different DXC site who have no experience. They are totally useless.

Counting down the days till I leave this torrid company!!

VR: “Voluntary Redundancy (nudge nudge)”
CR: “Compulsory Redundancy (shove shove)”

What does Vr and CR mean ?

Nobody left here seriously wants a job here. We just don't want to quit today and be told everyone else on the team got a pay off to leave 10 weeks sooner than you did!

Don’t worry, they’ll just keep doing that VR and CR thing where they burn money they don’t actually have. There’s no exit out for DXC of this business only increasingly expensive ways to stay alive.

Share price 7.92 at midday today! If you get offered VR or CR - take it, there may not be a company left for much longer. At least in the UK the current government will provide a statutory fall back. I'm not so convinced some of the other parties will be so generous in the future.
