Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

3/19 + 3/20 RIF's

Does anyone know which groups were predominantly impacted by the RIF?

The New Hampshire Rapid Response line lost their contract for the 988/crisis su----e line. So, we got emails this past Friday telling us we are all getting laid off but they say they will help us get inside jobs at Elevance Health. The managers and supervisors knew and they kept it to themselves. No loyalty to any of us. We suspected something was off when all they were doing was hiring contractors. They still have people in training. There’s no loyalty with anyone except the brown nosers, but looks like they too got thrown under the bus. What is really sad is that we have some talented people who have turned ugly because of bad management. Then you got the lazy people who will continue to get friendly recommendations because of who they know. The department could have been the cream of the crop but when you got managers who sabotage and are allowed to get away with it then there’s nothing any of us can do. They’ve got the nerve to say keep it professional. What else are we going to do? We don’t have a choice. End of day everything spoiled goes bad and there was no hope with the team leadership and management. Sadly some people will get hired within the company like Managers BJ or DP so, expect for the continuation of bad actors within the company. These people are spoiled goods and if the company can’t see it after all the layoffs, scandals, firings and corruption well guessing EH deserves it. This contract could have been saved but they did it to themselves.

I was with Carelon and was RIF’d last June with several others. They do this every quarter and all under the radar of WARN act so they don’t take a hit in the media (my personal opinion). A month before they did this we had to present a deck on all the customers we were supporting so we weren’t totally clueless when it happened but still a cr-ppy thing to do…one of my colleagues was on maternity leave…it’s legal believe it or not. They did me a favor as the company I’m at now has a really great culture.

I hope they are hiring for Customer Service Reps for GBD. We have been getting ki-led for the last several years with back to back calls and ever more demands to meet metrics that the company often struggles to show how they recorded. We use to have team meeting but now they have fired Managers and OE's so there is only taking care of calls and no growth opportunities no matter how rosy they make things sound.

It is odd to know some areas are actively training and hiring while others are getting the ax. I foresee merging of departments and unhappy retained employees.

Case Management on the GBD side was affected.

Got Rifted 3/20 but I’m not at all bothered by it! I’m actually a bit relieved to be free from the chaos of “door more with less”. Although, I do feel bad about my remaining coworkers who are about to have their work life balance stripped away. Elevance is tanking and now I get to sit by and watch it crumble. No one, I mean NO ONE in leadership has a clue about what they do, what we do or how to get things done!

I was RIF from EH on 03/20. It was about 10 of us total on the team meeting phone call. I was kinda tired of my position anyways so I'm okay with everything. The benefits su-k as far as what they offer. Paid until 04/28, then gotta apply for unemployment and SUB payments hahaha a joke after loyal worker over 10 yrs.

Has anyone heard of we are going to have more next month? I really am worried my job is next because they are asking me to train others on my team who have different functions. I am in claims and an OE.

I was RIF’d only because my stupid Director II didn’t know sh!t from his own a$$. Before he came I had no complaints and was a highly productive associate. I should have seen all the signs and how things went south as soon as they made the change. Prior leadership knew and cared what was best for our customers.

I got RIF’d this past week. Can’t say I’m all that surprised or upset. Haven’t really been happy there in a while, but I’ve basically been doing jack sh-t and getting paid fairly well for the last few years, so I can’t complain. The company is a total joke, fake a-s execs pushing how much they’re committed to being a “lifetime, trusted health partner” while in reality the only thing they’re actually committed to is stuffing their pockets (anybody remember the anesthesia fiasco from the end of last year??). Anywho, good riddance to bad rubbish. Taking a few days to process everything and center myself before hitting job boards.

Best of luck to my fellow comrades getting sc--wed by not only elevance, but the rest of corporate america! You deserve better.

Hi all. I'm so sorry to hear about the layoffs at Elevance Health. My name is Nona Tepper, I'm a reporter at Modern Healthcare. I'm interested in speaking with employees impacted by this latest round of RIFS. Please reach out if you're available to talk at nona.tepper@modernhealthcare.com. Happy to discuss the situation anonymously.

Then that makes no sense or you must have dealt with some bad WFM. Most of them do not micromanage processors, that is up to the managers. Commercial Claims WFM is inventory management, process improvement, Managing training and upskilling of processors, troubleshooting processing issues. So, your comment doesn’t make much sense.

I was with 'EH" for 16 years. I and my entire team (OPW Data Support) were RIF'd over a year ago. It was like a punch in the gut at the time. And right now you may be feeling betrayed, and rightly so, but just remember, God is in control. I took 1 week off to 'cope' then gave it all to God and started looking. 3 months later I was hired at a much more fulfilling job! So, take a few days to grieve, cope, fuss and fume...then trust God and carry on. We were never anything more than a cog in their machine...

WFM good riddance!!!!! WFM is at risk at every LOB this year and moving forward.

@e7+1jpss4yat Exactly right. People who are celebrating WFM RIFs are talking about completely different LOBs and they have nothing to do with the impacted WFM teams in commercial claims. 50% reduction and no time for work handoffs means there is a huge hole left that can’t be filled. Even if we did get 30 days to handoff the work, there simply is no capacity to do it. Claims ops is going to suffer big time because of this.

For those "celebrating" the WFM rif, part of CSBD WFM was inventory management not the ones dealing with associates on the phone. 50% reduction. They worked with the ops OE's to ensure processes were correct, fix issues, implement process improvements all to benefit the associates. There were OEs who were impacted also. These teams worked tirelessly to hold CGS WFM accountable while cleaning up the messes they create while implementing system changes that affected all LOBs without letting onshore knowing what they were doing. Many great people with TONS of operations knowledge gone. Shut out of their system, projects in flight, no time for handoffs. Absolutely disgusting how this went down. My only hope if this is the beginning of something beautiful for them. And for those impacted reading, this has nothing to do with you personally, this is all about corporate greed and I am so sorry you were caught in the crossfire.

WFM, I hope the door hits you on the a-s on the way out. They blame their own shortcomings on the associates below them with their micromanaging flaws... Oh, we set up your capabilities wrong and your manager has been emailing us for 4 months to fix it... Oops, well, even though you couldn't do your job properly we are putting you on a warning. This place su-ks.

WFM rant: Sorry but, if WFM was laid off, then good riddance!! I literally called it in another thread. All they do is micromanage the agents that are actually contributing to the business and doing the groundwork, taking calls, processing claims, grievances, etc. WFM would see agents on Break Aux and switch the agents' auxs to Available, without permission, and calls would come in while agents were on break. They would but reps in Break aux when the rep was on the phone with a member, messing up adherence. Then they have the nerve to stress overworked agents and management about adherence. WFM just had nothing better to do! SO, good bye! Setting agents' first breaks 3 hours into the shift, and last break 30 minutes before the shift ends. WFM was ridiculous. Maybe WFM can come back as a real employee that contributes instead on a micromanaging timekeeping babysitter because, timekeeping can be monitored by software now.

Still waiting for the day the headline reads, “Felicia moves on.” It’s baffling how someone can consistently drag down the business and remain in place. Some decisions truly defy logic.

I got let go from GB. While I’ve always appreciated the company and many of the people there, I regret making the move to Felicia’s organization. In my experience, her leadership often prioritized personal relationships over actual performance, which was frustrating to witness. Rob, for example, remained in a role despite contributing very little and he knows it.

I was RIF'D today. In my meeting we're a couple of OE'S and a couple from UM. I was in Provider Services. I feel bad that I'm not as upset about losing my job. Considering my years of service I am not surprised. The company is slowly being destroyed and dismantled.

I am going to take some time and then will land somewhere else. Happy hunting to all my fellow RIFs. See you in the unemployment line
