Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Admin leave?

I have only worked at the company for a short amount of time. I found that the match wasn't good from the beginning, but still tried my hardest to do what was asked and followed directions. All of this to no avail, because I was told today that I am being placed on admin leave to determine my future at the company. I work from bank and know that there is a severance package based on the consent order, but I am wondering if it applies to someone who was seen as "not a good fit" or only to those who got laid off last week in the Q1 wave for my group.
If anyone has information for someone who has not been included in the formal lay off...it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Your story echo's the firings taking place with government employees across the country that we hear about daily. So sad....

There were people in my department who were also placed on “administrative leave” and were terminated that same week. No one had heard such a thing but it seems to be USAA’s loophole for not having to pay out severance(s). Any minuscules reason to let you go, they will! Move with caution! USAA continues to find ways to ruin their own company but punish the actual hard workers for it Sad.

I too was placed on “admin leave” after being with the company for 11+ years with no warning , my numbers were meeting expectations (when they weren’t I was literally a percentage off) helped with bank remediations and I’ve been a key player in the numerous roles within the bank. after two days of the leave I was terminated, with the director clearly reading a script about the terminations (and I know it was scripted, re barley took a breath when “speaking”) and the reason they gave was “I was not meeting THEIR needs” which was insane considering the projects, trainings, systems I’ve created and having an I competent manager whom had no knowledge of our processes or work! I asked Employee relations how this could be possible and if I wasn’t “to their liking” why wasn’t I warned or moved and she avoided the question and said “we can’t just move you” which again is a lie as I’ve spearheaded training for people joining my department from a “job accommodation request” move. So it felt as if I was just thrown out like trash when it’s bank leadership they need to re-evaluate! There’s managers there who had no prior experience in banking or corporate management and was given a manager role just because he was chummy with the hiring manager, I’ve had managers tell me they didn’t want to be managers and said, “but Here we are” , I’ve seen managers become managers simply because was the the “oldest” on the team. Unfortunately with termination, no severance will be given, but prepare questions to ask ER/HR. I’ve learned the grass is 100% greener outside of the toxic environment that is USAA. Termination or not, never let USAA make you feel like you’re not worthy!!! USAA is disgusting and full of incompetent leaders who have and will continue to tarnish their reputation

Also, if you are struggling, proactively ask for training. Put in your 1-1 pre-read that you’d like to schedule time with your manager to train on X for an hour on Friday and Y for an hour next week. Your manager should be helping you succeed not writing you up.

Just keep hitting your individual performance goals. And keep documenting that you are hitting them, including in written pre-reads for 1-1s with your manager. If the 1-1s aren’t happening, send a weekly email about what you accomplished that week, then PDF and save it for your files. As long as you are hitting your goals, they will lay you off with a severance rather than terminate for cause. Be squeaky clean on RTO too,

Unfortunately if they fire you, which looks to be what will happen, then no severance.

I didn't think so, ppl keep telling me that I will, but I am pretty sure what you said is correct.

No. If you are getting fired - there will not be a severance.
