Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Lake Mary and PA

Lake mary is no longer being looked at for growth opportunities. Pittsburgh isnt safe either. Definite issues there. Texas is the new location being pushed thanks to BNYs newly obtained ex GS employees. Theres nothing like trying to turn your new employer into the old employer you ran away from.

BNY Pittsburgh is a trashcan affair.

RV said he expects to have “thousands” of digital employees soon according to Q4 call. Pittsburgh is not immune, they got hit hard last year.

@e5 Same for my team. Laid off almost all of the US team to move the work to India. We don’t get work until after 9am EST, because that is when our clients send it. So unless India gets all of our clients to rearrange their work to make India happy, they are basically talking themselves out of jobs. Super smart. I hope I’m laid off before all this implodes!

@db+1kfrzj0p2 I’ve heard the same from my Pune team about the time shift initiative. But it makes no sense to me. We already laid everyone off to shift it to India. Our day starts at 10 AM EST and ends around 7 PM EST if we are lucky. That means Pune is barely covering any work. Who do they think is going to do it… Eliza lol

@a5 not sure how pune can be the growth location when executives are actively working to get India off night shift and log off by 12pm EST. They will be laying off a significant amount who work in US day shift if they don't get out and find something first.

@a5 the only thing growing in pune is the amount of issues they keep creating. So run along with your rubbish commentary

Rubbish. Pune is THE growth location because of job displacement from the US and other locations that have higher cost labor. Otherwise, talent acquisition will include the lowest cost locations and wherever BNY has negotiated favorable tax incentives to create net new jobs. That’s how it rolls.
