Thread regarding Gainwell Technologies layoffs

Gainwell Technologies India

Hello, we are investigative reporters at Bloomberg Law, and this morning published this story.
https://news.bloomberglaw.com/health-law-and-business/medicaids-gatekeepers-fail-to-catch-fraud-and-often-dont-try

We are continuing to look at the company and the actual work it is doing in the states on its various contracts. We also and understand even more jobs may be offshored in the near future.

We would like to hear from current and former Gainwell employees about the work being done, and any thoughts you may have. We've published two stories, and at this point are working to get a better understanding about the quality and consistency of the work at the state level. All conversations will be completely confidential, we are just trying to learn as much as possible.

We appreciate your help and can be reached at: jholland1@bloombergindustry.com or at ccastronuovo@bloombergindustry.com

Thanks,

John Holland and Celine Castronuovo

Rebadging of ESS US employees to Tech Mahindra is in full effect. Those employees will promptly be replaced by India employees.

Well Gainwell just sold off EDMS (report storage) / LG (letter generator) / K2 (workflow) to Tech Mahindra..all those employees now work for Tech Mahindra. EDMS has nothing but a ton of PHI/PII in production.

They really need to stop offshoring everything. I think this is the beginning of the end.

I don't think this is good at all.

Gainwell is not a good place to work any more. If the customer treats you bad, management doesn't care & won't fix it. The state (Mississipi) wants to declare anything not working like they want to be a defect. The state (MS) doesn't want to pay for anything and are the worst customers ever.

@OP Despite the numerous articles Gainwell continues to offshore American jobs and data. They are continuing full steam. It's leadership is full of people from India who threaten the employees if they don't get this work done to fully support offshore. The India based president threatened to fire people if they did not deliver by the next day resulting in both the India and US team working until 4AM to complete tasks. They are also replacing leaders who appear in any way to not be in alignment with the companies decision to offshore. Many of these states do not have written agreements in place authorizing offshoring, only verbal discussions. Gainwell leaders push ahead with implementing offshore without any written agreement and forecast up to 300 more roles to be offshored this year. It is a highly unethical company looking to make a buck at the expense of Americans. There needs to be a full investigation into their leadership starting at the top.

This is the de identity SW GW is using : Nintex incorporates features and practices to minimize the risk of sensitive data exposure within its process discovery tools, including data masking, image masking, and controls over data collection and retention

We all know that the parent company Veritas holdings is making Gainwell appear solvent so they can sell their $5billion acquisition for more than that. We have seen this corrupt mismanagement since HPE made their shady deal with DXC.

What is there to investigate ? It’s an open secret that companies with heavy offshore presence already have access to the data and it’s irony that the medical policies of a super power country are being analyzed by offshore . The policies and key logic is already known to the offshore companies . We need to protect our key logic and integrity of our medical policies of our country . You develop a product for states which holds key confidential logic from offshore ?
Damage has been done

@e5 HHS has guidelines for data deidentification. It's standard stuff even if developing onshore. This is makes teapot tempests look eventful.

@ah please share with us your knowledge of de identification? Is it foolproof? What standards and tools is GWT using to perform this action? Who in the organization handles and verifies that data is no longer phi pii relevant for users and members? So the large data storage centers they are opening only contain non identifiable info? I am betting this article at least gets the attention of the states and they will all be rethinking their relationship with GWT. When you get greedy and allow that greed to cloud your judgement there are sometimes consequences. GWT do the right thing by the states and their members and keep tax payer funds and data stateside.

Any IT professional with over 30 years of experience, knows that outsourcing is a way of life. It seemed like Medicaid would never outsource for so many of the reasons cited in the article. Therefore many of the contractors involved in the states became complacent over the course of many years. That includes most of the leadership of the companies that formed Gainwell. Gainwell has been in charge for only 5 years, before that, Molina, HMS and the legacy EDS Medicaid business under DXC had entrenched management in place that competed with each other to show Veritas how great they were. After a year or so, it started to degrade as more and more people were recruited from Accenture because the first group couldn't get out of their own way. I left before the rebadging stuff started going on. I always thought that Gainwell had lawyers figuring out the loopholes so they could transfer the work legally where they could. But after reading this article it sounds like they just did it anyway! That's just crazy! What a hot mess!

Looks like zero effort was expended to truly understand data deidentification. Kippy doesn't even seem to understand PII. He looks like an ugly fish.
