The way it works is that Execs get a 1 rating by default, that entitles them to rises every year even if turnover and profits fall (no deliverable or goals for them) . The others that get 1 are managers friends, anyone else can do a excellent but will never get a 1. Such a "pre" fixed pointless system. Repeat and rinse every year.

For those in your sixities, you just need to believe a good life can exist post DXC.
I had VR forced on me after many miserable years of DXC.
At first, I felt bad about the unfairness but the VR money did make for a nice break and I got a far better role surprisingly easily.
I no longer dread Mondays - If you are offered VR, take it.
I strongly recommend looking elsewhere - after ten years of dikking around here - I found a job elsewhere and what a change.
I am more productive, healthy and happy.
PIPs should be for people who refuse and intentionally don't work. Not people who aren't given any work, or where once you were e.g. a C# developer and now the client has decided on a totally different technology. I'm not a psychic and neither was DXC otherwise they'd have sent me on a course in advance. The fact I now can't do it is on DXC not me. But hey I failed my objectives as I couldn't complete the project and they had to get a contractor who's been using the new technology for some time.
"What's worse than anything in my opinion is that the company won't even write a 1 in my rating. That costs the same as writing 2."
If you don't get a "1" rating, its easier to put you on PIP.
@e4 Same. I gave up fighting to make it better. Nobody cares. Why improve things when you can just not bother. Because you get no rewards not even a thank you, we really appreciate your input.
I feel I'm not wanted or needed. Yet despite repeated asking. There is no VR either. Meanwhile I've done nothing of note so far this year.
They expect me to just quit out of boredom? They don't know how stubborn I can be!! I'll wait!
Its a bent system. Pay promises every year which become lies that never get paid.
Shame is they have done it every year for the last 9 years. Joke of a company.
What's worse than anything in my opinion is that the company won't even write a 1 in my rating. That costs the same as writing 2.
But no, I can't even have a well done, let alone a pay rise.
So apparently I'm just mediocre every year so that's it, that's what they get. Any good ideas I have I don't mention. Just keep my mouth shut now.
Btw the upper echelons don't even have appraisals. Their pay is decided by a pay board (that's run by themselves) and a bonus that's paid on a fixed calculation on eps performances.
In DXC, appraisals are really a sadist's "gas lighting" delight.
This job is utterly pointless. It's irrelevant what score I get, it doesn't change my salary. Nobody outside DXC cares about DXC rating. The company now pays me quite a lot of money to do not a lot more than attend status meetings. It's also quite happy to pay other people even more money to do the same thing. It can't last, but whilst management continue to think we're all busy I'll take the money and stash it away for my early retirement.
