How are some teams luxury traveling overseas for “market travel” nextweek? Seems tone deaf to me. guess they gotta spend they budget before cuts?

Does marketing actually make the company money???
Was in it for 9 years and I honestly cannot find the evidence of true ROI directly tied to marketing efforts vs Nike name brand recognition
I'm involved in executing budgets and financial forecasts. It is depressing to have a front row seat to what some leaders are spending on while teams are forced to run pot lucks for team engagement activities. It really comes down to each individual VP and how much they care about their teams. Most don't care at all and hoard the budgets for their own travel and luxury LT off-sites.
Yeah, marketing makes the company money, but honestly, they are mostly coasting, yet hard working teams actually cranking out results suffer under draconian budget restrictions. Attitudes around who is entitled to guzzle the cash nozzle needs to change
"market travel" == Boondoggle. So many travel boondoggles @ Nike. The fiscal irresponsibility of many teams is maddening. Should we talk about the million dollar Deloitte Powerpoints or the other stacks of "Management" consultants?
yeah the haves and havenots exists inside the company just like outside.
money for business trips, money for conferences, remote work rules, it all differs by group and how much pull your groups VP has.
- shrug*.. I personally hate it but yeah. facts.
Here we are in countless meetings on divesting a $10k/yr tool because we just don't have the budget for it
Business class travel ongoiing thing thru February and March.
@OP funny how there is always no budget even for team lunches but then teams are blowing 50k+ for a group to go on market travel domestic or international in business class
