Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

GN&T

So are we really getting hit hard again or it just another speculation. I wish I could understand how they’re all still looking to cut down when we’re already thin. Most of our areas are the sizes of what two people used to handle. Are we going to a record of 4 orbits to 1 FE? At this point I wouldn’t be surprised NA/SP get combined as 1 and have them handle 3 orbits.

@e2 Agreed, the only threat to NA is E//. You need to be nit picking the work they are doing right now, so they don't replace you.

As you know, and are already seeing, things are transferring to Ai. I doubt you will see any changes to NA, unless E// starts taking the work. RFE is already hacked, and its pretty obvious they are going away. SP will dwindle down to who uses Ai the best. They can't go away, because they are the only ones that understand how things work.

@bz They aren't going to like that plan. The quality of the Contractors and their subs has gone the tube. Many use english as a second lanuage so it could be a challenge for difficult troubleshooting.

@eg

An RFE? That doesn't mean an RFE understands what is going on in FNA or vice-versa.

@e2 bz is a RFE

@e2 the company doesn’t pay benefits to contractors. It’s cheaper to let the contractors maintain the network. The only things the company wants to keep are customers and the spectrum. Everything else is an expense

@bz most of my sites and in my area are on rooftops and we also have a bucket truck that we use on small cells... last week I replace 3 RRU's on light poles so I am not sure what you are talking about! Clearly you don't work for NA.

GNT has already been severely downsized as of last November. Good luck to all.

@OP not sure what orbits means...but two things are certain...Nasa astronauts will be orbiting the Moon soon..and GN&T will get impacted in Rifs

Will GTS be outsourced? There are tons of head counts. They are part of GNT

VZB GNT Mgmt is on the clock. Half the herd has already been moved to Core side. When will the rest follow? Contract has been ratified. Any worry about strike duty has been removed. What does the future hold?

With the next pick in the 2026 VZ layoff draft, the company selects....

Next cut will be FAE ranks. Now that RF equipment is on the tower, repairs are carried out by contractors. Monitoring alarms and opening trouble tickets can be automated as well.

Look back at history. They can’t touch GNT and never will.

There are still too many FE's & AD's.
One AD should handle 25-30 direct reports, not 12-15. Especially for their salary range.
FE can handle 50% more sites as Mr. Dan doesn't want to fix the Network.
Outages are not as critical unless a HUBs/SW or heavy 100G+ BH.
No OT and shift hrs strictly 8-5 +/-.
Less GC's for all the MOD's and capital work.
Farm it out to 1 or 2 national GC's and PM's for Gen/AC's.
These changes have been needed for 8-10yrs.
The days of the Fat pockets on the GC side with new RRU, Ant & BB projects, gone and will never return.
Matrix pricing and bids to continue being less profitable with absolutely poor return on quality and integrity as GC's do not have skin in the game anymore.

WS stock price, his own stock options / bonus & completing his contract within the agreed guidelines is top priority.
Along with self preservation!

Dont give yourself a false sense of security by how much work you have. They dont care! Just be prepared and ready to hit the ground running.

To be blunt. They don’t care about you. They only care about the shareholders and profit. If you are cut thin, they don’t care. You are expected to work harder. You don’t have a choice but to do as you are told or risk being laid off.

GN&T is Global Network and Technology
I am engineer from GN side, maintain and run the network, we already took a big hit last time, on the other hand, I really do not know what Technology group is doing, and what they do. If there is RIF, Technology group should get hit first

Yes we are already very thin, both wireline and wireless GNT. Curious what orbits are though?

And to previous commenter.
Gnt runs the network. Boots on the grounds guys. Engineers building and repairing. Gnt makes the network.
