Heard several say 4 hrs PTO don't count as day in, but I've also heard from others it does. In the same umbrella! Is it truly mgr discretion? Mgr site says it counts. Wondering what others think or have been told Btw.. no problem going into office

@a3 there is a rto site?
We were told just yesterday that the way the tracking does/will work (at least for our org) is it looks at your three longest days in-office within a given week. If you go in a fourth day for less than 8, it won’t hurt you. I don’t know how that interacts with PTO though. Ideally, if you have PTO (full or half) on any day/s that week it would just count the highest [3 - # days PTO] toward your average. But like I said, I dont know that for a fact….
Bei sent a note saying four hours counts over a year ago. The reports for days of week list it as well. I checked on my own attendance.
@e2 yep that's what I thought. PTO days don't help for purposes of the 8-hr/day requirement but they do still count for the separate 3-days/wk requirement (as they always have). And if you take a half or whole day of PTO, seems best to avoid going into the office that day at all -- even for a minute -- just in case doing so could mess up your average # of hours for that week. If you take one day of PTO (whole or half) then work in the office two days for 8+ hours each day then you're good for that week -- you meet both requirements. Right? Not trying to game the system, just don't want to accidentally sc--w up my average # of hours due to not understanding how the tracking works. This place...
We were told by our senior managers in our all hands meeting that 4 hours of PTO fulfilled both the RTO day requirement and the 8 hours requirement.
I knew my layoff was coming so had been doing this since the formal announcement in September. I haven’t followed it closely because I knew I would be laid off this week.
Maybe it’s dependent on your LOB and senior leadership. For instance at my site some most of us were doing 3x RTO days a week, but other LOBs were doing 5x RTO days and then 5x WFH days in alternating order.
I once pointed out this meant that our LOB was doing 12x RTO days a month, while the other teams were doing only 10x RTO days and I was told “that’s up to
their senior leadership”
It counts for now; the rumor I heard is that next will be 4 days in office, minimum of 5 hours (which means 1/2 day PTO or volunteering will not count for an IO day)....who knows if that is true. There is a group near me that works 1/2 day in the office ALL THE TIME and they said their manager never says a word...so apparently some managers care to follow the rules and some do not.
it's done systemically - no manager discretion. 1/2 day of PTO is equivalent to a day in the office on reporting attendance. It is NOT included in the calculation of average hours spent in the office.
It absolutely counts, for now at least. I take more half days PTO than I do full days, and I have remained in compliance on the RTO dashboard for years. Anyone whose manager has told them otherwise just has a manager who’s being a d*ck.
It counts as an office day IF you are taking PTO for the other 4 hours. Otherwise, the new slogan is '8 hrs means 8 hrs...not less. Hours in the office are being tracked.
ditto, it counts and is on the rto site.
It counts. Check RTO site for yourself to confirm.
It counts as a full day
