Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Indy office

Email advising they are opening up 200 desk on the second floor and making 56 new. The majority are dedicated units GBD and IU. Managers keep advising the rto is not for hourly associates. Why do they think we are so stupid? Common sense says these desk will be occupied. The question is WHEN? Ppl have lives and need to make arrangements some need to find new jobs as the coins will not cover the cost of gas.

@e4 Likewise as well. Been WFH since 2011. Never had a bad review, or complaints about not getting work done. I have no co-workers in my local office. If I lived 13 miles, or 15 minutes farther out, I would not be subject to RTO. Hard not to feel like this is being deliberate and punitive.

to the poster who said "I would make sure as any Hybrid 1 that they dont flip you to Hybrid 2 if you dont fall into the categories above."

Hysterical - you can watch - but you have zero control - this company will make you whatever status they want - always have -

Well your corporate American job will more then likely be non existent. Some individuals at the company met certain criteria to work from home. Individuals who were sent home due to covid did not meet the same criteria.

@jm the mid July rollout going from hybrid 1 to hybrid 2 is for managers, directors, and director equivalents but as the other poster said, I would make sure as any Hybrid 1 that they dont flip you to Hybrid 2 if you dont fall into the categories above.

@jm I suppose it depends on your area. What I would keep a watch out for is your Hybrid Category changing from 1 to 2 in Workday.

@jf I’m currently Hybrid 1 and I have not been told that I’m moving to Hybrid 2. Not all are moving to Hybrid 2, correct?

@ja correct, can verify as a Director, no one has said to me anyone who is currently virtual will be returning to the office. not to say it cant happen, but the only change this year is hybrid 1 associates moving to hybrid 2 in mid July. That’s all I am aware of.

Weekly reminder that directors and managers, maybe even svp, know little and have to dictate what is dictated to them. They may be saying no changes now, then the c suite pulls a fast one.

@e2 RTO is pointless because nobody on my team is in the same office. Why should I have to go into the office 3x a week just to be on Teams calls all day? I imagine many people are in the same situation.

@e2 some were forced home due to building closures over 15 years ago...even relocated with approval.

And now all over social media its all about the new covid strain and how everyone should start buying masks and expect the worst by September. Imagine if another lockdown really did happen and all this RTO was for nothing.

@e2 so those of us that were hired WFH what about us? We should just su-k it up and go to the office everyday too? I’ve been at home for 14 years.

I live 30 minutes from my office and pre-COVID, made that drive every work day. COVID changed that and allowed me to WFH and save money on many personal expenses I paid going into the office. While a convenience, I never expected not to return to the office. Circumstances change, especially in corporate America. If you can’t adapt to these known changes, then maybe a career in corporate America is not for you.

This place used to be a place that people wanted to work at because of the work life balance it offered. Gail and Pete have sent it RIGHT DOWN with RTO. They should have made those hired AFTER COVID RTO and everyone else allow them who were WAH stay. I am hearing everyone will be in by the end of the year. They do not care; they want us to leave so they do not have to backfill or they can send it offshore. This company used to care. It is to bad we are losing so many good people to other companies now.

With the increase in desks and the new requirement for employees to swipe out, it’s clear they’re doing everything they can to push people to quit — just so they can avoid paying severance.

Of course, those of us who can’t afford to quit will keep applying for external roles. Maybe, in the end, our competitors will scoop up the best talent from here. Eventually, everyone who wants to will find a job that fits their lifestyle. It won’t happen overnight or even in a few months, but over the next year or two, we’ll see this churn play out.

In the end, Elevance will be left without many of its top people — not that they seem to care, since they’ll just keep collecting premiums and calling it a win.

Still, I really hope we can all move on to a forward-looking competitor, to a company with an awesome culture — one that truly values both its employees and its members.
