@ee what does she do and why is that I have a feeling she is not performing

@fh rather than fad-humping, we could just recognize the ai bo-m as the bubble that it is, and invest more into our existing (degrading) products and make them best in class, and just be a decent software company with reliable offerings, grow organically.

@e1 and those threads normally include 'I'm planning and/or considering leaving.'

Chill - go glaze the board more.

@k2 I agree. Shannon has done absolutely nothing to contribute positive momentum for our company. How the he-l does she have her job still?

@fh
Agree lots of options on the table..My bet is most scenarios will come with WFR'S as this is the easiest lever to pull to reduce expenses (and is considered an 'exceptional cost item' when reporting earnings.)

With the new Board Members (the ones that joined from around 2018 thru 2025) look at their Bios and LinkedIn profiles...this may indicate which way they are leaning. OT and the current BOD are under tremendous Shareholder pressure.

When the CEO is announced also pay particular attention to his history and LinkedIn profile.
This will strongly indicate both his and the Board's intentions.

Also agree...that sadly it didn't have to get to this point had the previous Board addressed the MB issue. It is beyond me why they didn't address that..as that was their job.

@fh Spot on. Mirrors my experience exactly. You stated things better than I could have. OPS/integration is flat out broken. Not blaming OPS. Multiple VPNs, half a dozen accounts required to do your job, process for the sake of process...

Only disagreement is that you say the "swamp has been drained," I hope that it is just the start.

@fc This all started when Mark became CEO, and it reflects the challenges we have faced following the acquisition spree that began with GXS.

Three distinct realities exist within OpenText: the perspectives of individual contributors, middle management, and executives.

Over the years, many individual contributors have voiced concerns regarding our strategic direction, particularly as it relates to our cloud and AI capabilities. We know that while acquisitions were intended to bolster our standing in these areas, the underlying infrastructure and innovation needed to support a robust offering were not addressed at all. Unfortunately, as we transitioned through various acquisitions—including the significant milestone with Micro Focus—these concerns became more pronounced. The reality is that we are not a leader in cloud and AI technologies.

While some members of management attempted to bring these issues to the attention of our executives, they did not want to hear it, as it would upset Mark, leading to where we are today. The belief that we possessed strong cloud and AI solutions is now clearly recognized by the board as false, and the pause following our acquisition activities has only served to highlight this since Mark can no longer hide the issues with new acquisitions (smoke and mirrors).

Now the swamp has been drained, and there is no clear vision moving forward. A new CEO will need to clean up this mess and set a clear vision for whatever remains of the company.

We are behind, so our only hope is to go all in on AI with huge R&D investments. That means getting rid of everything else unless it’s a cash cow that requires little to no attention. So more layoffs and re-organizations are in the near future. If this fails, then the new AI OpenText will be sold for parts and we’ll all need to find new jobs.

@e1
Totally appreciate your message..every company has its issues..some more than others.

IMHO..Open Text is literally the absolute worst and the BOD knew it for well over a decade and did nothing.

Agree that a lot of companies su-k. (Comepletly agree!)
It's just that OT su-ks the most because it went on for so long and the damage and impact to every organization and every employee has been magnified.

@a2 Most of the layoffs I know of came from under Shannon.

@b0 I ain't delusional, every company I ever worked for has its piece of sh-t/dark stories.
Guys, if you hate it so much, why staying?

Just look at other threads and you'll see exact same type of stories with people be like: "It is the worst company everRrRr"

Keep interviewing and get out as soon as you can. Like another commenter, I've been in tech for 40 years and I've worked for some clunkers in that time, including delusional CEOs. I came to OpenText via an acquisition and it is the worst run and least ethical company I have ever worked for. Even government contractors were better!

@a6

All due respect, after over 40 years in Tech..I can tell you Open Text is the worst run, least ethical company I ever worked for without exception.

I saw many people with your view until the day they got the unexpected 15 minute meeting invite from their bosses boss.
The majority were high performers.
Though I understand your view..I would hope you have a plan B ..you may need it.

I guess it depends in which team you are and what for. As of me, I consider myself lucky and my team is thriving and we recruited 6 new people.

Completely conscious that the business is in shamble right now, I keep an open eye on the outside, but ultimately, anon, whether it is opentext or not, you'll always find things to criticise.
If it's not management, it'll be processes, if it's not processes, it'll be product, etc... Every company has its piece of cr-p. I have not found one perfect, yet

Enjoy the ride!

Unless you work under Shannon Bell or Paul Duggan, get out now. They are the only two executives that have their employees’ backs.
