Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Joining Allstate was a huge mistake

I left a place where everything ran like clockwork and the perks were real for a 10 percent bump in pay. Now I have to deal with pure chaos and leadership that seems to have no clue what’s happening. Some days I feel like I’m just part of a sideshow and we’re all waiting for someone to figure out the plan. It’s exhausting and frustrating, and I miss having structure.

They did the same to me. All that experience in IT . The truth is they did not want to hear of the fundamental mistakes being made. The motto was "...released software" even if the business had not fully approved or digested the proposed changes. Sh-t show called ASC. Feedback was requested in name only. When shortcomings were pointed out with suggested correction actions it led to firings of the people suggesting corrective actions. By far the worst place I have ever worked.

Once upon a time the Allstate employment “value proposition” was that you’d have a safe secure job until you retired, even if it was mundane. You could live in glenview and raise your family. Then they broke that “promise”, but it was okay because they could hire people in other parts of the country who hadn’t heard the Chicagoland stories. Now with the internet it’s a wonder anyone will take a job there. Sears followed a similar trajectory… toxic culture, low pay, poorly managed

In the same boat. It was one of the worst decisions in combination with bad luck. I lost RSUs from the previous company as they were in the shi**ers when I joined Allstate. Allstate hiring manager promised growth, increased responsibility and a team in ANA, ANI. It turned out to be exactly the opposite. And salt on the wound, my previous employer’s stock went through the roof and their current employees are millionaires now.

Agreed, new leadership on my team is a sideshow onto himself. It's bad. Maybe I was a fool for being optimistic, but actively looking externally now after only a month or so with the new boss.

Let me guess they told you about the abundance of opportunities and the great ways you could grow your career when interviewing. Classic bait and switch at the dumpster fire 🔥
