Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

New bout of WFR starting Nov 2022.

I joined CSC 2014, found it hard to believe a round of redundancies every 4-6 months. Management wanted everybody to do multiple roles (leveraging) for no extra money. With DXC it looked like it was going to change. But here we go again, Mike 2 has turned out to be like Mike 1 in the end.

They say cross train to a new role but don't say to what or where the new roles are. Loads of training in racism, gender equality, LBGT etc etc, but it's purely tick box exercises to keep the PC brigades happy. They promote Man U FC, what about the other sports? Somebody’s getting corporate benefits.

Management are continually re-inventing the wheel or even new wheels that are not round and have to be made so. Management were/are remote, sometimes in another country, so have no idea about what's really happening in the office. Since covid working from home is the norm because offices are just about gone, so no personal working environment.

Everything is handled on tickets which are frequently closed with an "I don't know," "Not my area" or no response at all. There are so many single points of failure in projects and support it is amazing the customers don't go elsewhere. It is only the individuals personal pride and commitment that things don't fail.

There is a trend that DXC are good a winning business, but then rebid to keep contracts at a lower figure, meaning the only way to keep the profit margin is to cut staff and ultimately bleeding accounts dry. The rumours of a sale will only mean more to get the chop.

There was some hope early 2022 with annual reviews promising pay increases. Lower management did lots of work to identify those deserving, but then there was a call to say the rises had been deferred, with not date for implementation given. Strange that higher management seem to get bonuses. Forget about a pay rise. Everybody I know who has left or been given redundancy or left has been a lot happier. I too will soon be happier.

Shame it's not in apps, they'd be overwhelmed by volunteers

Left in 2020, partly due to continual pay and promotion freezes from the top, not middle, managers. Operational staff struggled to meet overambitious contract promises. Sorry to hear not much has changed.

There is definitely great training on ground breaking technologies like Platform-X and Moneyballs. Moneyball was a program to get rid of prebuy inventory and not a technology! Platform-X is vaperwear

Regarding the comment about unions being a hurdle for mass layoffs, the vast majority of DXC employees are not unionized, and we have large employee populations working in countries without works councils. Those countries will get the biggest hits as usual. But don't think they won't start the clock on people in countries with long notice periods and other barriers -- those are usually high cost countries and the invested time is worth it long term. And goes without saying that there will be more WFRs -- it's been one wave after another for years, just to varying degrees

And the person who says people are whining is either new to DXC or one of Sal's little sycophants.

Mass WFRs need union consultation and a lot of groundwork. There is usually a 2-3 month lead time for that groundwork to be completed before layoffs can start.
If M2 hasn't gotten off the block with the groundwork yet , chances of any WFR actually happening this side of Christmas is pretty remote.
He has already run out of road.

Very funny - both as relevant as Twitter is these days ...

you are all welcome to search for good opportunities. Seems like too much whining in the OP post. While too many companies are pulling employees to office, DXC have been encouraging flexible work, which is commendable. Think of dreadful traffic and petrol prices. There is definitely great training on ground breaking technologies like Platform-X and Moneyballs.

Every time I was facing a round of WFR (whilst also deciding who to WFR from my team), we'd get told to look at the internal vacancy list for suitable roles. It was weird how many 'suitable roles' were available while people were being laid-off in the hundreds, and how many suddenly were removed when people started applying for them.

Toe the comment that asks whether WFRs are happening in November: I'd be surprised if they aren't. Shouty McShoutFace has committed DXC to saving at least $500M this year, and he hasn't done that yet. The only cost lever that Shouty knows how to pull is staff, so you can expect more WFR before Christmas. WFR will probably be Shouty's Christmas present for some staff - it usually was when I was there.

Everything that you have said is true...but you haven't mentioned anything about new round of WFRs in Nov in the actual content of your post...clickbait?
