Yes, I’m that old. And it hasn’t been fun going through all the stages of things falling apart, only to reach a point where I can’t wait to cut ties. I hope that during the next wave someone notices that I’m over 50, therefore a zombie by current corporate standards, and finally puts me out of my misery. I’m not leaving without severance. I’ve earned it many times over the years.

@p4+1kcz3m2s6 you’re getting downvoted because you’re spot on. The OP is just venting. Apparently things are bad enough to come onto a board like this to talk about quitting. But not so bad that OP is willing to actually quit. Maybe the OP realizes that being the new person at a new company - assuming the OP can even get hired somewhere else - is a heck of a lot more daunting than staying put and bidding your time at a slowly dying company like Nike.
OP’s in luck though! With margins hitting all-time lows and the adjusted stock price flirting with 20+ year lows, OP can be assured there are more layoffs to come and people like him/her will make the top of the list. Then the OP can enjoy that sweet, sweet severance! Although something tells me when that time arrives OP will suddenly develop a new appreciation for the steady paycheck OP supposedly despised. Funny how that always works, no?
People who TRULY want to quit don’t talk about it publicly. They just quit. The “I’m waiting for severance” excuse is exactly that. A stale excuse. Besides, severance will be of small comfort when you’re involuntarily exited and have six months (practically speaking) to find another job in an economy where that next job may or may not exist.
If you’re unhappy at Nike then stop talking and start doing. Much easier and less stressful to get a new job when you already have one. So what are you waiting for?? Oh, that’s right…”severance”.
(Eye roll)
@h0 and you being a brown person from the other side of the world is the exact problem. How about next time stay in your sh-t country instead of coming here to be cheap labor costing real citizens jobs. By the way...hamburger is delicious and I hope I ate your grandma/pa as my porter house last night! Now fu-k off and go bathe in the disease ridden sess pool you call the Gangese or however it is spelled.
Which holiday are we being forced to work through? Christmas or Diwali? Nike is no longer American.
To the AH that called out Diwali, I am that brown person from other side of the world. We do more at home for Christmas than what we do for Diwali. These were meant to uplift us and bring us together. Not to show more hatred at every turn.
@dw
BS
companies are dumping older more expensive people
to bring in cheaper indians or outsource the work to india
everything is getting cheapened for a 1 time steal
HR, you need to stop posting to get the older folks to leave
to avoid age discrimation lawsuits
Over 50 here. Everyone in my group over 45 was let go in June. I WAS SO HAPPY!!! Took the summer off and found a new job within a month of seriously starting to look. I had a ton of interviews and found there are plenty of companies who value and appreciate experience. I HATED Nike anymore. I was waiting and hoping. So relieved when it finally happened. It's a terrible place to work at any age.
@am lol, you're not wrong.
Your problems have an easy solution. Celebrate Diwali instead of Christmas. Burnout burned. You can take all the time off you want as long as you choose the correct holidays.
I’m right there with you!!!! My sanity is running thin, my rope is running out, I don’t like how things are handled anymore by Sr leadership….everyone is at there wits end and is so moody it’s hard to smile some days!!! Get me off this grinder!!!
