Maybe it is ok for Intel executives to steal but not everyone else. It is their rule to get richer than everyone else.

Only the paranoid can survive. What if they cannot ? What should they do? Then the paranoid must steal. It is basic life lesson.

Beg, borrow or steal. Gov't does it and they expect everyone else to copy exact.

When I worked in LTD, there were two Integration people who came from TSMC, Global Foundries,... they both released secrets from their prior company, and asked Intel to follow.

The company is merely executing the strategy developed by Cartman Consultants.

Step 1: Steal Underwear

Step 2: ??

Step 3: Profits!

What is obvious here is that all rules are set to be violated as long as you have the power.

Wei-Jen Lol worked for Intel from 1986 to 2004. Check process tech in 2004. Intel was at 65nm and TSMC was at 130. BK gave away the golden goose when he chose not to invest in EUV, but anyone who thinks what comes around doesn't go around has their head buried in the sand. This industry always advanced fastest when companies shared ideas and workers moved back and forth regularly.

Cats out of the bag. TSMC only produces very few layers using EUV tools. Secret wafer recipes there is none. Memory and logic material science is well known across all semi sectors. TSMC uses Red China markets for its labor and materials. Tax them and Tariff them into submission. Taipei can not fight off Bejeng let alone Hong Kong. Foundry Haa, just a copy process line company. TSMC doesn't invent it, they only provide process lines from global toolset suppliers. ASML made TSMC 555

Roger Lo should have anticipated all the things happening now. Seeing the reactions of Taiwanese government, everyone should know TSMC is a state owned business. We did not see US government raided Kevin Zhang's home when he left Intel joined TSMC many years ago.

Lo is fundamentally an operations specialist, so his move to Intel likely signals a tightly managed supply-chain migration from Taiwan to the U.S. God bless Taiwan.

Real news. Intel is stealing TSMC trade secrets. If anyone joined Intel from TSMC, they will be specially called into meetings to share how TSMC does it.

However, Intel's execution is really bad. Even if it knows the secrets, it may not execute to the right way.

There are some new projects get kicked out because someone said TSMC did it, as Intel wants to blindly follow. However, some good project in Intel adversely get cancelled because someone said TSMC does not have it. So in some cases, the TSMC secrets (partial) are damaging Intel's own projects.

The only thing TSMC knows that Intel doesn't is how to execute. Doubt any company knows more than the other beyond that.
