I heard last week the company is throwing money at expanding IF&M under a new brand name (Healthsprings) so they can compete against other blues in the Obamacare space. Is that actually happening??? Isnt IF&M already a failing market??? Why would this leadership team throw money away like this????

@fa there is a major difference between they are looking to expand their access in IFM and Medicare and, "they're democrats who are just waiting for government handouts".
They're trying to expand commercial but they're failing (second blue bid etc)
It's not some secret democrat agenda to look into expanding in an area that they see room for growth in.
@dv - This is exactly how our company is operating. That is their long term plan, which is why they are investing so heavily in ACA and Government business. This strategy has been communicated to our team.
@dv are you new here? The utter lack of common sense and business sense by this leadership team has been proven many times- the latest with Healthspring. .
I highly doubt that they are planning on purposely going into a horrible business decision with the expectation that the government will give them more money. I am not the strongest supporter of the C suite and how they have been moving. this however, sounds like d-mb MAGA brain rot logic and that is not how businesses operate.
@ch well stated. It appears our leadership is always investing poorly and in the wrong areas. IFM is a losing proposition but as long as Maurice gets paid- he doesn’t give 2 flying flips.
@OP - The current "Leadership" at HCSC are hard-core democrats that want to expand the number of people on the ACA plans. Yes, it is a losing strategy, but the hope is a lot of bailout money from a future Democratic administration.
The Group business is really our core business but instead of investing in it, like they should, they are milking it and subsidizing their failed IFM and Government programs. Hopefully, we will get new leadership and turn this ship around before they completely destroy the company long term.
