Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Cordani and Evanko town hall

I’m still trying to unpack that strange farewell town hall Cordani threw for himself.

How could neither DC nor BE acknowledge the layoffs that happened less than 1 week prior to this event and that are still ongoing?

I don’t even know what I expect from this conversation. I think I just need to know that everyone else thinks it was eff’d up and awesomely tone deaf.

@gj IIRC, HCPM, the provider database that replaced PWB, was a Change Healthcare tool that Optum/UHC/UHG acquired as part of the Change Healthcare acquisition. HCPM, last I heard, is in the middle of being replaced because Optum/UHC/UHG ended its support of that product.

Morale in IT is the worst it's ever been. Lower than anyone can imagine. I was a tecdp and remember when the mission mattered and management supported us. Things are breaking now. I's a disaster and things are breaking every day. It's being hidden by DP and his soldiers in India. We all know it.

@gr That's sarcasm. Replying to the person who was convinced not many IT systems were important at Cigna, and that some dashboard in Optum was their whole day to day.

@gq Who is saying to “turn off” the claims systems? I’ve literally never heard anybody say that.

@er There is this obcure thing most people don't know much about called claims. These claims are obviously a tiny part of the insurance business, but Cigna does process a few. There are a handful of little programs running that move this data around. Some people say we should just turn them off. Just kidding - you don't seem to know much about your job.

@er There’s far more custom software in our business than you appear to know about.
Customer facing

  • mycigna.com
  • mycigna app
  • tricare web and app
    Client / B2B
  • controlcenter.com and all the websites behind it

There are more but these are big projects that are crucial to our business. I never heard of us using software from Optum.

@d2 We use software from Optum...aka united healthcare. But go on and tell us about that custom IT development.

@dt All Blackrock owned tech companies are offshoring to India. Why specifically India or the Philippines?

@dh our operations have been 80% offshored for years. I’ve been here since the early 2000s and have seen the evolution.

@br Willing to bet mid to big money that Evankobot is being paid by Blackrock under the table or in close cahoots like Noelle probably was.

@dg

As long as things are currently ok for them, not much else will matter. I see clear executive "leadership" potential with this clown.

@cv you’re excited to see thousands of American jobs cut and lives ruined in favor of offshoring to India?

@d8 I am not. Hate to see anyone impacted, however, I have been working with partners for over 20 years. They can also execute at a very high level.

They do in our organization.

@cr 100% serious, it’s crazy to see the difference in how people feel outside of IT. I’m very excited about to the future of the company and how I’m being rewarded for delivering outcomes.

@cm town hall was great. Everyone in our teams really appreciated it. We are not in IT though so we are not as pi---d as everyone there….

Yes, I completely agree. Every single time I go to a town hall here, I wish I hadn’t. But this one was over the top. Felt like an SNL skit.

Disgusting to see Cordani crying about the “caring company” he created and the not say one lick about the layoffs. If he had said the JEs are painful and it pains him but the shareholders expect it, his tears would be less distasteful. But nope. It was all about me and nothing about the lives he has damaged. Uncaring man (kind of have to be as an CEO of a company this big though) and uncaring company.

You heard Evankobot - if you’re not aligned with Cigna’s mission then leave. Of course he just fired 2,000 employees who were aligned with Cigna’s mission in order to hire thousands in Hyderabad who neither know what Cigna does, nor has any customer base for Cigna’s products and services, as they have socialized medicine, but let’s never mind that…

It was disgusting and inhuman to not even acknowledge the fact that 2,000 people’s lives were impacted. We have completely soulless leaders.

Absolutely, 100% eff’d up and awesomely tone deaf. In other words, Cigna standard operating procedure.
