Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Do you trust your leaders?

Is one of the reasons morale is so low having to do with no trust in leadership? Above a certain level?

I’ve only been here for a few years, but it seems we have a disproportionate amount of leaders ousted under suspicious circumstances.

Is it normal to have so many leaders in the news? Class actions. Federal investigations. S-xual misconduct.

Doesn’t feel normal.

No. But can see why you would think that.

I keep hearing about the way it used to be from long timers. That are admittedly harder and harder to find. And just wondering why the general malaise on campus exists. No one has anything good to say about what they’re doing, what they’re working on, or who they’re working for.

I came from a place where trust in leaders was paramount above all else. And if it didn’t exist, they were bounced.

It would seem as if there was trust, many issues would at least be minimized. DEI for example has clearly been abused. As a result, few trust the hiring, promotion, and retention process. It seems there is few merit based promotions, with a ton of senior roles going to external hires. No development of people.

I don’t have any hard data, but we don’t go more than a few weeks… maybe a quarter… without some speculation of wrongdoing. And absolutely no accountability to give the workforce any trust.

If you can’t trust your leaders with one thing, you can’t trust them with anything. Can you?

I'm in supply chain and absolutely don't trust my leaders. All they know how to do is peddle AI slop.

I love it when leaders push your buttons and then eagerly wait for a reaction, giggling like toddlers in the corner, eating paste. Kindergarten all over again. How can you trust people in power who don’t seem to know the difference between paste and gum?

I’ve struggled to trust Nike’s management due to repeated experiences of favoritism, nepotism, and leadership behaviors that felt divisive rather than collaborative. At times, the environment felt psychologically unsafe and emotionally draining.

I trust some of my leaders. Regrettably their leaders are incredibly racist and only hire new FTE from their home district in their home nation.

I know I'll be laid off eventually to make room for his cousin/nephew/"dude that agrees to pass back 50% of his salary". So... like.. why should I care? About anything?

The bar has never been lower. It has never been easier to "excel" (relative to my peers). I'll coast at 20% effort until I'm put to pasture.
