This type of capitalism will not last. And the end will be tragic for the rich.

Was off last week and haven’t talked to my boss about compensation. I think should resign if I don’t get pay raises.

@ak some houses are built with only four walls around, just to show that they own a house. Announcing the citi did the best in the last 10 years has to be reflected on the bonuses of the faces that represent the bank. If she earns less bonus compared to last year, it will contradict the 'great news'. Simple Publicity stunt. We became the scapegoat for that. Simple.

JF will earn a lot of bonus this year, the news about 'record breaking year' should be reflected only on her bonus and a few with her to show the world how amazing she is. No media covers the JF's peasants salary.

This…..
“ 1 week later notified to my manager I was leaving Citi and his first reaction was that he threatened me to keep me beyond the notice period of my job contract. Of course he could not do It at the end.”

Speaks volumes. The fact that your manager followed the common Citi bully tactic to intimidate you.

Not this year. Last year:

1.5% raise... 1.8% bonus, after paying tax just enough to buy one iPhone XD.
Solid performer: 2/2
Citi Europe branch

1 week later notified to my manager I was leaving Citi and his first reaction was that he threatened me to keep me beyond the notice period of my job contract. Of course he could not do It at the end.

This year in my new employer, same salary, expect a 20% bonus.

Feel sorry about you, guys. Leave that Mad House.

@OP Laid off Wednesday 1/14/26, complete surprise, been here 6 years and have always had good to very good ratings, excellent feedback, had my annual review last week, no negatives. I have not gotten a raise since 2023 (because I am on the "high end" of the salary band), have gotten a bonus every year, ranged from 4.9% - 7.6%. I thought we were having our numbers call, wrong. Lay off due to location strategy, given a $5k special payment in lieu of bonus and severance figure, turned over work and lost access today. #LifeAtCiti #LivingTheDream Best of luck to all as there will be continuous rounds until 2027.

I was off this week didn’t get to talk to the boss. Would the comps info be available now in citi4u or workday? Or the boss has to talk to me first before releasing the comps info? Is it available for u to view in citi4u or not yet? Not sure if i should be “excited” for my 0.00032% increase and $750 bonus or just be happy & content i still have a job. Thanks!

What does a c09 really make? I think I'm being cheated out "due to limited funds provided for bonus"? I being given a 1.3% bonus... because I haven't been at the company for year.

better than average performance rating - 0% raise 7% bonus in tristate area - was told the normal tripe about "difficult environment". Meanwhile every quarterly memo in 2025 was something along the lines of "record breaking quarter". There was even a Citi Global News article sent out to the whole company this morning titled, "Our strongest year in a decade..." Kind of burns when all year long you look at language like "breaking records" and your CEO gets a 25 million dollar pat on the back - only to come up with zero raise. Very inspiring.

Honestly, you have to be happy you got a good ride with such a sh---y job. Project management is a BS job, which thanks to the easy money environment in the past 15 years managed to become quite lucrative, especially in tech. But let's be real - what value are you guys adding? Just go and do some real work, become a plumber 😄

Citi loves to act they are competitive on pay and comps often summed up with “remember its tough out there, just be glad you get to keep your job”.

Its a shell game, an illusion a slight of hand. At the very best they only average on pay and comps. At the worst they are far behind.

Don’t fall for it. You will never ever be paid more than you deserve but you most certainly will be paid far less.

This was the first time I've been unhappy with my comp. Minimal raise (promotion mid last year, into the bottom of the pay band).. bonus wasn't much higher than my prior role at a lower level.

Layoff is not new it was always happening, always there, what is new and absurd is the way it's happening now and the people who are being picked up. Trust me I can see in my team people who worked their a-s off are being picked up and the boss who doesn't have any idea how to do even what to do are sitting on their seat comfortably and getting another prey for the game.

@a5

CEO's total compensation in 2024 was about 31MM. She's on par with other banking CEOs, if not a little on the light side. Cutting this means Citi wouldn't have a CEO any more, which doesn't make sense.

At an average total compensation of $100000 per laid off person, denying her $25MM bonus would save maybe 225 people for one year. From what reading Citi plans on laying off over 10,000 people. No amount of CEO giveback money is going to equate to the saves that come from the layoffs. Check the math.

If you want to make the case that it's just fundamentally unfair to have a CEO make as much as JF does, while layoffs are taking place, then fine. You can make that argument. But don't pretend that JF's paycheck is equal to the costs of all those being laid off.

@a5 I mean not understanding it's a committee right how can she walk away with an exceptional raise bonus like this..no one would say a thing..at the end of the day they are not getting that number right ,why everyone is quiet

Its a ploy to get more people to quit so they dont have to pay severance. Dont fall for it. Make them lay you off.

@OP this was my worst year yet. 1.3% raise and 3% bonus. At the same time, cuts are being made and will be the theme for 2026. The VOE will be a bloodbath this year.
