Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Did I miss a holiday that Ford celebrates every day? “National lets play on our phone day”

Every day I come into my office at Ford. All I see is everyone playing on their phones all day long.

@mc Sounds like a nice guy, I'm reading Mein Kamph in my office, but, I vary my reading schedule, not much of a fan of reading on the phone.

@mc

I mean... apparently if a 5 is doing this the "right" people don't care. I'd move on.

@mc didn’t you learn mind your own business in elementary school? Quit being a child.

@mc

If they are getting their work done, then it's all good.

It's just like working remotely. I get so much done around my home. But I also get my jobb/work done.

I work with an LL5 obsessed with his phone. He's either on reddit, playing games, booking travel or using AI to redesign parts of his home. Many brought this to the attention of the LL3- nothing has happened.

@cn I agree, some GSRs are displaying highly unprofessional behavior. I observed one walking in the parking lot today and will be denying them overtime pay for this period.

@cn I can already tell you're a horrible manager and your team hates working under you

Pipes down…this isn’t 2010 anymore. You should be asking who is running a business while at work, collecting double the money…gas stations, restaurants, heating and cooling….,

Your 'LL6' should be all over that.

It is completely unacceptable for people to be doing personal things during work time. That's what a lunch break is for.

I am an LL6 and I cracked down on that real quick. Now, most of my team doesn't even talk to each other when I am around. It's quiet and productive. Just how I like it.

Could be a management issue.

Well, we were mandated to trundle back to the office. Not to better accomplish day-to-day tasks.

Nope, we were called to a higher purpose. We are here to collaborate, to cross-functionally communicate, to mentor, to strengthen and uphold the best aspects of our company culture.

If we don't have 8 hours worth of that each RTO day, of course we will revert to padding out the mandatory time in our own ways. Can't leave early to do task work at home. That's not important enough to the shot-callers.

To the extent this is an issue, it's a failure at the very top. Workers should not carry any accountability here.
