Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Why do we have to piece together everything that's happening on our own?

Why is this leadership incapable of being fully transparent? They let us sit in uncertainty, guessing and hoping to hear something official that rarely arrives before we already managed to find out what's coming. Do they really not see how that's affecting morale and makes us trust them less and less?

@dr i feel the same about Ajit. Guy cant spare a second to make eye contact and give a good morning to anyone. But he shows face in office so that counts right….

Because they do not care anymore. They are so unconcerned with their teams at this point, and our executives continue to shift nonstop to make it seem like progress is being made. My manger and I speak candidly offline and she says things are an absolute disaster.

I remember the days of skip level brown bag lunch discussions where we would get 1:1 with our Directors, MDs, etc., and they would freely answer questions and take our concerns seriously And a lot of times, we would see things acted upon. Now, you see your MDs and execs in the hallway and they don’t even acknowledge you. Tuschar Bedi acts like those under him are lepers.

No one seems to know anything a level above your direct manager. It’s fed down like a slow dripping faucet and then suddenly the pipes burst every quarter it seems - and everyone in leadership is “so excited gang about the new vision and strategy.” But it’s lands on us and feels like like warm pond water.

@OP Because information is power, and withholding that information reinforces the hierarchy for the holder of it. This has been the TIAA-way for as long as I've worked here. Keep the natives d-mb, burn their books and music.
