On the heels of the news that the company is refreshing its channel leadership, Cisco is cutting 221 workers in the San Francisco Bay Area by mid-October.
“I don’t want to get rid of a bunch of people right now. I don’t want to get rid of engineers,” Robbins said. “I just want our engineers we have today to innovate faster and be more productive, and that gives us a competitive advantage.”
whats big deal with 221 job? i thought cisco layoff even bigger numbers in past.

Even Asians who are naturalized US citizens or on green card or on H1-B are sick and fed up of outsourcing of jobs to Asia or getting replaced by Asian outsourcing companies running their show in the USA.

If you’re under 35 in SJC you should be somewhat safe anything after that is a gamble but that goes for most tech companies.
@dr you know what? You are absolutely loser, even today SJ campus has over 9k employees and continues hiring, the recent laid off mostly target on dying acquired companies and mid-level management to improve productivity.
@dr my org hasn't hired in SJ in at least 4 years (the amount of time I've been there) and has specifically stated they will not.
No one should be surprised here. Cisco has publicly stated its reducing SJ presence. If you work for Cisco in SJ, you've been on notice for roughly 3+ yrs. At this point, if you haven't left, it tells me you're just waiting to get LR'd; no sympathy for you because you're getting exactly what you want.
