Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

No layoffs in the US?

I see there were layoffs in several other countries this week, but nothing here, right?

@kf I actually had to google some of your references. Seems that you have…interesting thought patterns.

Since you’re clearly spending a lot of time on the internet watching videos of a specific kind, perhaps you can consider taking some online courses (these are videos that teach you useful things), so that you can up-skill and work in a climate-controlled office for $200k+ annually instead of complaining about others who do.

@mc Great for you I guess?

I mean, do you want a prize for being attracted to a certain type of man?

It’s interesting that neither you nor Mr. Hammer seems to know what a paragraph is and you both make the same grammatical mistakes. Perhaps you know one another…

As a young woman posting anonymously, I just want to weigh in on the blue-collar vs white-collar debate. I’ll be honest, the guy with the hammer is way more attractive. He fixes things. Builds things. Solves real problems. The office guys bragging about their salaries? Congrats on mastering email and PowerPoint. I work around plenty of them. Nice guys. Smart guys. Married (somehow), kids, the whole thing. Totally respectable. But when I hear them trying to insult a man who works with his hands, I just laugh. One of these guys can lay concrete and build a deck. The other needs a meeting to decide who to call. Money is nice. Competence is better and more honorable. High salary, low torque. Jmo.

@kf This is what happens when you try to level with people across different social classes. The people a few rungs downwards never take having the facts explained them well.

@js you are such an absolute a--hole, I can only imagine how much you got beaten up as a kid. But at least you’re now getting pegged regularly by you’re wife - btw, Mr hammer is taking care of her

@jf What We actually have is yet another “blue-collar hero” who’s unhappy with the outcomes of their life choices, and, as is typical of their class, blames people with more education who have better pay and working conditions for their outcomes.

Point taken though; counter-trolling at their level detracts from the quality of the group conversation. Unfortunately, it’s the only thing most of them seem to understand.

Just search on LinkedIn. There are many "retirement" and "leaving" announcements for the United States between January 1, 2026, and February 14, 2026.

More to come for the rest of the year.

Well clearly we have two adult ExxonMobil employees on this thread who are living their best lives with their middling net worths and horse dongs and hot wives.
You sound like a pair of 8th graders. You’re both actually miserable and insecure. STFU already.

@f4 Say what you like, but at least I can properly construct a paragraph.

Your problem is that you think work consists solely of sweating and applying brute force using tools from the Bronze Age. Knowledge work is actually a thing, with the product often being IP or a reduction in liabilities worth tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. That’s why educated and highly skilled knowledge workers are paid as well as we are; we generate massive value for the people who employ us.

Be sure to wash your hands before you eat.

@c2 The hammer doesn’t envy you.
It pities you, because deep down, you know the degree did the lifting, not you.
You don’t build. You don’t fix. You sit in climate-controlled office, mistaking keystrokes and meetings for contribution.
Highly paid, highly credentialed, and functionally empty with nothing to admire. Have a great day.

@aa if it’s any comfort it’s not just in the US that people are PIP. It’s everywhere, in China, BA, Thailand, Hungary and Brazil. The HC10s are now cut to barebones but the ones still on payroll get PIP too.

@ar I take it you’ve never been to a college.

Degree holders earn on average $1.5M more during their working lives than people who don’t have one. We’re also more likely to own homes and be married. We also live longer.

My bachelor’s paid for itself a long time ago. My master’s didn’t cost me a cent. My net worth is just under $3M and I’m well under 50 years old. This is what winning feels like.

Now get back to swinging that hammer.

LMAO.

No layoffs planned for any L1 organization in the US in 2026 at this time. Polaris, Canada work transformation and major reorganizations (Global Ops) need to compete, thus need people to finish out the work.

In the U.S. they do this PIP/constructive dismissal BS to avoid paying out severance. RTO, benefit cuts, making the office as uncomfortable as possible, etc. It’s all designed to get people to quit. Seems to be working.
