No merit increase but they want goals on 2/28

They want goals but won’t give increases for job done all year. They feel we do not deserve increases so I also don’t feel they deserve any goals since they don’t want to pay. They say use AI to write your unattainable goals so we can put all of you on a PIP and get rid of you. Sc--w you Elcio.

Merits were given, out of 50+ I directly know, only 2 didn't get a merit. (Which is 2 too many, to be clear!!)

@jh I’m not doing any of this. I didn’t even get a raise for the work I already did. Goonjun got enough people angry. She now has a ton of enemies walking right under her nose. Her own doing.

Make sure you have 100% grasp on every activity you say you’ll do to hit your goal. We have to assume 2026 will be a repeat of 2025 when it comes to hitting goals and proving it. Use AI to make your goal sound relevant and ambitious, but make sure you CAN check mark each activity and know exactly how you’ll be measuring. These 2 components are the most overlooked by leaders. They focus on the goal statement itself.

Nothing wrong with celebrating success in life. But bragging on a public blog about how special you are that you have to arrive in style using a private jet to fly the 700 miles from Minneapolis to Louisville for a sporting event is not a good look if you're a public figure. The snobbery is gag worthy. It gives a lot of insight into how Gunjan and her clique view us, the people who make her existence as the head of USB even possible. We are a lower caste in her mind. Get that in your heads and never forget it. Here is an excerpt of the deleted blog post (Gunjan's husband's), from archive.org:

Of course, it also matters how 😉 you arrive to an event! It was 81 minutes on a Private Jet from Minneapolis, MN to Louisville, KY!

@dz Yep, he quickly got to work doing damage control. Yesterday if you searched for keyword "Kedia" on his blog, there were at least 6-8 pages in the results. Today there are zero. But like you said, the internet is forever! All kinds of interesting "deleted" items can be found here:

Be VERY careful with goals this year. There is a reason they want you to write your own goals. PIP quotas are very real this year.

Third world is the third world for a reason. They will keep gutting the bank to hit EPS numbers to maximize cash incentives and try to sell the bank. They have no vision or strategy.

I don't think what they are doing is legal but they are counting on no one fighting it. When HR mandates a % NI that is a structural red flag. Calling RTO a goal? A goal is something you choose. A policy is something imposed. As we are no longer valued or compensated appropriately, recognized for our expertise, or in a culture that aligns with any principle worth supporting, it becomes evident they are shrinking by creating a culture of fear instead of growth, operating in a way that goes against what most people value and creating a hostile environment for those remaining. I am not going to panic but trust my instincts, I am not stuck, trapped or powerless.

I’ll give them goals. I require a raise every year as I’m performing and no, I don’t work for free or same salary as the year before. That’s my goal for this company. They probably have angered at least 20k+ people so they have a big monster to fight.

I pretty sure AI is running the company at this point. Pretty clear "senior leaders" are only capable of reading off a script. Goonjan's assistant prompts co-pilot, "Please create a speech for an 'all colleague' event, use these 6 PDFs from Mckinsey on executive communication for reference. Use the word empathy a few times, and be sure it easily translates to hindu. Thank you kindly."

Seriously this company needs to be investigated.

New normal. Work your a-s off to justify 2% if you're in office. Aspirational goals to hold you accountable for with PIP and NI if you don't. Good way to fire you and get their ultimate goal. Reduce the employee workforce without severance, and backfill 50% of those openings with India "global workforce", the other 50% empty seats are eliminated. It's the new executive leadership playbook.

But hey we put people first, we do the right thing, we are "best places to work" "most ethical company". If you complain you are just not grateful for the 2020s workplace culture.
