Mattel is going BK by end of 2020, so all those VP's and SVP's (ALL 200+ OF THEM!!), good luck s—as. Most of them will likely move out of California because no one else is hiring, and CA taxes are outrageous. Enjoy Phoenix, SVP's!!

Logistics team is very top heavy. Logistics is where they hide certain employees until layoffs are over. Why the hell would anyone agree to pay for a very expensive service and still use their people to do the job? Oh right, because no one at this company can say they were wrong. Ignorance is a requirement for a title in Mattel Logistics.

Mostly it was layoffs below the VP level. I think maybe 2 VP’s were laid off and 1 of those volunteered.

The news reported 350 corporate jobs were laid-off by Mattel. How many of those were SVP’s with their huge salaries and bonuses?

To the person who was fired while on workman’s comp; my understanding is that it isn’t allowed by law in WI.

Consider yourself lucky, when I was let go, they weren't even nice enough to give me an STD.

Fired from American Girl. While on workers compensation, STD, 8 weeks of 12 week approved FMLA. Only one fired in my Department. I know of 1 other employee on workers compensation fire. Also heard two Pregnant people in office. Bill Barmore said reasoning is to cut costs. Benefits terminated immediately.

Mattel started letting go of the right people in EA. Maybe they can start to fix this mess and hire back people who truly contributed to the business that were bumped out due to mean girl petty politics. I'd even like to see some of the old timers come out of retirement to right the ship even if it was in a consultant capacity to right the business model. EA needs some serious help since having everything licensed pre-school dumped on us.

Yes life u are a designer u have to relocate. There is no other toy design in Buffalo. Nothing even close

I've spoken with many designers in EA who would like to leave but feel sort of trapped. If your a talented engineer or marketing person, even a small city like Buffalo can offer a range of career opportunities. But if your a toy designer, FP is kind of the only game in town. From what I've seen, designers typically need to relocate to when they find a new job.

I don't think many designers have left the company in EA. They just hired 7 designers a year ago to work on Thomas and brands from the NYC office.

They need to promote one of them and promote someone else to fill the VP spot. Career growth in FP design has been a logjam for many years now with very little opportunity to climb the ladder. I believe it's directly responsible for much of the attrition we've experienced in the past few years with many designers leaving the company.

Because they r only VPs. They eliminated the SVP position w Mark for cost savings. They report directly to chuck

Sad to hear about a VP and 20 others being let go in EA, poor FP just can't seem to pull it together.

American Girl took a hit. Mostly low-paying jobs. Sad and crazy considering the company is losing money hand over fist. A VP did go earlier this year. But there is a lot of riff raff in Management.

it's a question that comes up every time. if money is the issue, why not get rid of big chunks of money at the top. these people are making alot of money and can easily find another gig somewhere. they tend to cut the workforce that is making the product. while most were making good wages, they're not making what management makes. again, do we need that many VP's, directors, senior managers? money should be put into the product and invested into the people that directly work on it.

In ES, many of us in the Model Shop were "furloughed", whatever that means. We're now on unemployment and there is no guarantee Mattel will ever hire us back. We should storm the building whenever management comes back. They are still collecting fat paychecks and generous bonuses for jobs very poorly done. No talent there, and no respect for real talent or experience within the company.
