I recently accepted a Microsoft teams meeting from a recruiter who said they worked for a medical device company. It sounded like a real good deal until they wanted me to deposit an electronic check into my bank account. Of course I did not deposit the check. I told them that I put the check into my PayPal account and they went ballistic. They wanted me to use that check to purchase equipment for my job from their authorized vendor. This was a red flag so beware of the scammers out there you job seekers.

Let me guess: there was never a video interview and you were offered the job immediately via chat? Always remember: if it's too good to be true, it certainly is.

Is this the Nextdoor app now?
@a1 they sent me a front and back of a check via email. I was supposed to print the front and back trim them to standard check size and deposit through my mobile app into my bank account. They were in a real rush to get me to deposit that check. I’m really glad that I did not.
I blame it on H1B program and offshoring flooding the job market.
If there are really more workers than jobs, how is this possible??
It's legit. Checked it out.
Weird scam (purchase equipment for my job from their authorized vendor) but a scam for sure.
