This is a death blow to the Intel GPU+AI efforts and should not be allowed by the regulators. It is clear that Intel needs the downstream, low-cost GPU market segment to have a portfolio of AI chips based on chiplets, where most defective ones end up in the consumer grade GPUs based on manufacturing yield. NVidias interest is now for Intel not to enter either the GPU market, nor the AI market - which Intel was preparing for with its GPU efforts in recent years.

@dh Well, this is a marriage between a monolothic designed CPU company with another monolithic designed GPU company. Result? A monolithic designed APU with a humongous power drain!

NVidia could really help Intel if both companies agreed to integrate an NVidia designed GPU on an Intel CPU. That would create solid competition with AMD's APUs in the consumer market and please NVidia if Intel subsequently exited the low-end discrete and integrated GPU markets. Both companies would provide their strengths and spend less on development costs where they are weak.

Nvidia seems to be threatened by Trump, otherwise, Trump will charge Nvidia heavily on tariffs. All companies had to flatter Trump and contribute $ to survive.
Giving Intel money will show Nvidia is on the same side as Trump and government. It is a cheap way to flatter Trump.
Nvidia is facing challenge from customized AI chips from Broadcom, Google, AMD, Meta, Amazon, Oracle, etc.. With Intel's slow pace, it may slow down Nvidia to make it recline. It will be fun to see how Nvidia might fall with Intel.
