What do you all think? I’m a bit worried, but then again, we’ve learned that nothing good ever seems to come out of these situations anyway.

@k9 Optum's a gimmick to squeeze profit over MLR. A shell game "finance runs the company". Candyman, AI, Product, all paper: shiny distractions from UHC's reputation as a harmful parasite. Ireland? More efficient, but tax cheat and loophole for network data/transactions.
Optum exists at the pleasure of UHC. UHG will sell off every last bit - even higher IOI - to preserve the horse and buggy that Steve-o built.
10x lobbying hoping the government won't touch MA upcoding. AI efficiency allows Providers to see 2x patients in 1x time for about 1x the effort... Payers don't get 2x reimbursement from Uncle Sam. Like, are they THAT clueless?!? Even VBC is meaningless with AI. Tiered co-pays is another red target.
Hate is bipartisan. Tech bros salivating over an Epic partnership to solve everything with blockchain on top of 200+ new AI products making UHC useless. What a hill to die on focusing on UHC and dividend increases for Steve!
Expect consolidation in Provider, shedding OI bits, Optum Payer, focus as Payvider. Optum Financial might get spun for a quick billion or two. MAYBE divesting RX as a GOP olive branch for a couple years of upcoding. Nice fat one-time dividend, again for Steve.
Flurry of departures and shuffling = death spiral. They know it. Incompetent leadership, competition winning against dud product, sales, and marketing. No strategy, horrible silos, iron fists, burnout. Berkshire and media are duped. Who knows, maybe UHG is auctioned to PE by Christmas. At least we'd have better leadership.
The guy running the show is from PE. The entire thesis behind OI is that it can help unlock insights the massive troves of data UHG has (hence the name) through technology. This was the entire reason why OI was founded. This is not some kind of private knowledge: it's literally on the Optum Wikipedia page.
To answer the question from OP: do you hear a chainsaw revving off in the distance? Listen carefully...

I work with Optum Insights and I have no idea what they even do...

I think it is going to be trimmed to the bone. All financial and card related stuff seems to be moving there. Every one of our jobs will be in Chennai.
Health is going to just be the providers maybe?
