Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Chicago Hub

Does anyone know where the Chicago Hub is located and when we will be required to start working from there? My manager got an email yesterday but no details.

@drdy+1uFrHJqn I did the workspace locator thing and it shows me as a "remote employee" which I currently am. I'm not near a HUB or client center. Does this mean I've made it to permanent remote, or just that my fate hasn't been decided yet?

HR here again- I made an error by saying there was only a hub on LaSalle. It turns out there are TWO hubs in Naperville. 1000 E Warrenville Rd and 136 S Washington St. Both of these locations would be a much closer commute compared to going downtown. I find is appalling that both of these hubs have been kept a secret and we do not have an option to work out of these closer locations. If your manager has not communicated RTO to you and you’d like to know your fate, type Workspacelocator/ in your browser and then type in your email address. You location and name of your move champion will be listed.

One thing to keep in mind about RTO is that certain managers are turning a blind eye as to whether their employees are coming into the office or not. Find out who these managers are and use it as a we-pon if you’re ever called out for not meeting the RTO metrics. Data will prove that RTO enforcement is being done haphazardly.

Also, your “move champion” will be trying to take group pictures and putting them on LinkedIn and will halfheartedly gush about the virtues of RTO. They will also ask you go to group lunches ( again photo op). Feel free to say no. You did no sign over you Name, Image, Likeness when you were hired. You always have the choice to decline invitations and not partake in pictures. It’s called having integrity. My hope is that the Chicago employees possess this trait.

@cxkq+1uFrHJqn Appreciate you confirming the below. It's quite obvious by now with the unreasonable "squeeze" but still good to hear from the horse's mouth.

"The name of the game is to unofficialy encourage employees to resign. Stay strong and do not resign without a job lined up."

HR here. Only the building at 190 LaSalle is designated as an official hub. We do have office space in the suburbs but a majority of employees are not being given the option to choose a location that is closer to home. Without a doubt this is unfair. The name of the game is to unofficialy encourage employees to resign. Stay strong and do not resign without a job lined up.

LaSalle is the only Chicago hub apart from Naperville hub which is bullsh-t. Where is our 3rd suburban hub for the rest of us? It’s discriminatory.

190 S LaSalle, not the Rookery building, will be the hub. There will not be any hub locations in the suburbs. They want to make this as painful as possible.

Okay so is there only one HUB in Chicago The Rookery Building on South La Salle? No other locations in the suburbs?

The great thing about people from the Chicago area is that we can be spiteful as all h#ll if you cross us. Let’s make this RTO painful for good old USB. Comply within the formal policy and exploit any and all loopholes. Let’s bring the pain 😈

Employee communication emails will be sent out 10/7 with expectation to be in office 12/9 and like others have said your manager will talk to you first and read from a script treating you like a child

Managers are supposedly having an RTO call today with corporate. Chicago is in group C with return to dates of 12/9 and 12/16. Other cities in group C are Boston, Knoxville, Philadelphia, Denver, Phoenix, Portland, Marshall and Kansas City. My assumption is that your manager will be reading from a script to you either today or tomorrow about RTO.

@2nw-don’t think it was supposed to be in there for a couple more weeks until managers had ‘time to communicate the change’

I typed “my location” in Workday today and it’s now blank. A few days ago Workday showed that I was being reassigned to the LaSalle building. What’s going on?

@1smy This is the best idea I've seen on this topic. If this could be implemented it would be chaotic.

I'm glad other hubs get to start to feel the enjoyment of neighborhood fun. Good luck, Chicago, you are in for a treat! But as many have stated, we are in a 1:1 ratio on my floor, and there are way more than enough empty cubes. Half the company still works from home 3-5 days a week.

What happens if everyone shows up? Maybe such a scenario needs to be organized and have everyone show up. Lord knows the executive workers at this bank lack brain power and need us to "draw them a picture".

The point is that there are not enough seats! If you don't have a 1:1 ratio for seating, then RTO should not be mandatory! Enforcing RTO and not having your ducks in a row is a huge problem and speaks to the leadership and HR, not the rank and file employees!

No need to worry about finding a seat, people don’t even come in that are suppose too. The twin cities has not had a shortage of seat issue.

Things are still shifting but im seeing about 1.5 person to a seat right now for my team. How disappointing is that they are forcing everyone from the suburbs to Chicago. Who wants to commute so far? Why no suburban hub outside of Naperville? Literally no work life balance.

It’s 1.3 seats per 1 person. More than 1, but not nearly 2

Seems that I struck a nerve regarding Elfio’s use of Rogan. The post was deleted. How do you say “fragile ego” in Portuguese?

1emf is a prime example of the lack of critical thinking ability in U.S. Bank upper management. Devoid of any problem-solving and planning acumen. No wonder the bank is a mess.

@1emf+1uFrHJqn show up 2 hours early? All of us? I'm not sure that solves anything. The very fact that we are even talking about it says plenty about RTO failure.

or you can show up 2 hrs early before your shift to secure a cubicle. Problem solved!

USBank is trying to bring the meat packaging industry back to Chicago by packing people into cubicles.

They really want us to quit the way they are treating us.

RTO wouldn’t be as bad if we had our own cubicle, but they want us to fight for a desk

Get ready for people fighting over a desk. Elfio outdone himself as usual.

How is it going to work with 2 people to a desk when you have to be in office 3 days a week, minimum? They know they don't have enough space for the number of people. There will always be at least one day where 2 people must share one desk.

This bank is such a trash heap. This layoff board offers a wealth of information compared to upper management.

Chicago hub aka La Salle building they are packing it to about 1.5-2 person to a seat. Insanity.

@vdu+1uFrHJqn it's all up to interpretation. One could also view it as RTO was assigned to those who were low performers and mgmt. hoping they'd quit.

There are employees in the Chicago area coded as RTO and others remaining coded as remote. Is this a sign that remote employees will be laid off?

PS They are not using a 30 mile radius as a guideline on determining RTO.
