Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Are Layoffs 5/16 or 5/23?

Does anyone know when this months round of layoffs is? And what orgs/depts will be hit?

Honestly hoping I get laid off to avoid this stupid FOW clampdown.

Vitality has been pushed by Cigna as our new "thing". This is a term used to describe a person's ability to live, grow, and develop. Cigna has a sick sense of humor on how it provides Vitality to it's employees. This is accomplished by quiet and sporadic Layoffs and FOW used as catalyst for employees to worry about their job security. This gives employees the incentive to live, grow, and develop outside of Cigna. As a result these actions coincidentally "just happen" reduce operating cost, increase profit, and improve share prices.

@4fll+1svW6VGj If they are band 3 they are not management so they wouldn’t be demanding more productivity. Lack of knowledge makes you sound like a troll who doesn’t work for Cigna. That said there are many people who have weird job responsibilities that don’t seem to do much of anything. But that’s poor organization and management, not the workers fault.

Good because some of these lazy a-s boomers in these band 3 positions making too much money and not doing anything need to fu--ing go. They’re not here for anyone but themselves or a paycheck. Then they have the audacity to demand more productivity when they themselves NEVER had to meet those same production goals. They don’t even know how to begin making the production goals because they weren’t required when they started eons ago.

A couple people on our team were let go this week. We were told it was for FOW non-compliance, but that is very sue since one of the guys was in the office more than I was. I think our director is trying to cover up more layoffs and scare us into FOW compliance. So much ick.

Band 1 retention is so so poor that they are making basically all of them work like dogs in Contact Center and on overtime. I guess most get hourly but imagine having to spend 50 hours a week getting yelled at AND micromanaged on productivity.

I can assure you band 3 is being treated the same and most are salaried so no OT.

“ I have far too much work to waste 8-9 hours a week commuting.”
Me too. I used to put in 47-50 hour weeks when I was WAH. Nonce Cigna took away the benefit of being at home, I took back the extra time I was donating (since I’m not paid hourly) and only put in 40 a week now. Some things I do a less good job in, some things I don’t do because they turned out not to be as necessary as we thought, and some stuff sits in the backlog. Fortunately my manager agrees with me and continues to put me down as meeting and exceeding expectations with the work I do. You can’t give people pay cuts ($, time, or other benefits) and expect to get the same or more work out of them. It’s a two way street whether ELT wants to admit it or not.

They did an org announcement yesterday for MA that Dr. Sobel “decided to pursue an outside opportunity” and his last day is 5/24. Yea, it’s definitely happening like others have stated on here. I figure more org announcements are soon to come in other departments. Scary, stressful, and exhausting days will continue for employees. I hate it because I was so excited to work for Cigna a few years ago, but now the culture is not the same! I don’t know anyone who enjoys sitting in traffic for 2-3 hours a day! I have far too much work to waste 8-9 hours a week commuting.

All but confirmed through he grapevine today it's band 3 and above. Band 1 retention is so so poor that they are making basically all of them work like dogs in Contact Center and on overtime. I guess most get hourly but imagine having to spend 50 hours a week getting yelled at AND micromanaged on productivity.

Layoffs will be bands 3 and up. Can’t keep enough Band 1 and 2 employees, plus they are lowest paid so Cigna gets less savings if they are cut. Shouldn’t be as many this month as some other months.

Yes, 5/23 is the date. Bands higher were notified earlier and you’ll hear the “retiring” or electing to leave the organization BUT why is their last day all the same- across different areas and parts of the company?
#saveface while Cigna and Evernorth …. Mic drop

At least a few thousand. October layoffs were close to 2000 and February was close to 1000. Combine in a couple hundred each month in the other months, and yeah, could be maybe as much as 4000. But if goal is 20% of 70,000 we’ve got another 10,000 to go. I would imagine that a lot of people are probably going to be fired in Q3 and Q4 for violating the FOW policy. And more layoffs.

If 20% really is the goal, ELT are out of their godda-n minds if they think the company can run at 100% effectiveness with 80% of employees. AI is not good at all our jobs yet. I would guess they are looking for more like 8-10% reduction in force. Who knows though. This place has gotten so crazy and cr-ppy I wouldn’t put anything past the craven C-suite.

Ooof 20%, that's a lot. Wonder how many people so far?

I was told before I left there would be layoffs monthly until they reached their target of 20% reduction in force. Who knows, at this point.

It’s really ridiculous that they are still trying to avoid the WARN notice. There have been almost monthly layoffs for over a year… the secret is out!

@dfp+1svW6VGj

I believe it will never be over. There will be continuous small rounds, with some bigger ones mixed in to break up the monotony. All will probably fall below the requirements for the WARN act.

Funny how that happens.

May23rd seems to be a big day for a lot people that are supposedly ‘retiring’. If that’s what we’re calling it now…
