Thread regarding Ford layoffs

@152 I think you're confusing marketing with advertising. Marketing is actually core to defining great products. Advertising is selling. Doubt the people in marketing even understand this.

@152

It's all grift. Marketing people are the reason why those random useless pieces of software you never asked for appear on your vehicle. Where did this come from? Why would I use it? Who thought this was a good idea?

Fired. Get outta here.

If you have a good affordable quality product, marketing really shouldn't even be needed. Product should just sell itself. No gimmicks, stupid slogans, super expensive commercials needed. Ready, set, Ford is probably one of the d-mbest campaigns I've seen.

Wait, there's a "Chief Marketing Officer" now you must be joking.

@df

Less interested in this and more about what it means for the organization in general. Someone's personality is immaterial. This C-level movement overall seems like it's a signal for the larger org. Make sure you are networking and looking. Ford isn't a reliable employer right now.

@cv Some of these areas have seen massive growth under these leaders. We've nearly doubled the India headcount under Mike, that kind of growth is truly impressive.

I agree with what has been said here. I don't think it's just by chance that we have so many C-level people moving on right now. Hold on to your butts.

So Doug, Lisa and Mike are on the move again? It seems they drained Ford as much as they could do and it is time to find another victim company with bigger pockets. I wish we could see Fartley move on too...

The only problem with these departures is that the damage was done already. The company lost experienced personnel, loyal buyers, tons of money and most important of all, FMC lost a huge opportunity to rise as a trusted/strong company.

So who is going to be cleaning these "executives" messes and how long will it take? Or is the company just bringing more clueless managers to create more messes? I don't know. What I do know is that someone else is going to be left holding their bags of cr@p, and that would be us, the workers.

For the last 7 years, I have seen the company going down the drain, being broken in silos and kingdoms, chasing the latest fad, and many of my coworkers have left the company (voluntarily or laidoff). The ones remaining are already tired of the abuse and the stoopid managers. I have been cleaning messes and holding bags for several years now, as the company let go my team (no backfills). It seems the final round of layoffs for my area will be done this year. I am guessing then Fartley will complain for the lack of engineers as he complained for the lack of mechanics in dealerships, but no actions will be taken. As my uncle used to say... it was good while it lasted... it is about time to follow the example of these "executives" and find another job...

@ay he’s the IT help desk at a truck manufacturer, I don’t think I’d call that significant

@OP

DF was significant enough. Marketing Executive.....MEH...but MA is not a trivial departure. Signifies some major changes.

@OP

Either way - even if these departures don't directly effect your area, this kind of churn at that level is significant. Big changes likely coming due to misalignment or strategic retreat from the "restructuring". Either way, take steps to protect your career and always be looking.
