Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

@devz+1t0BQA4x is spot on. Trying to do the "right things" (e.g. eng innovating) will only get you sent to the pastures. This culture and routine of lipstick on the pig is what keeps the gravy train moving. Expect no more than that. Riverbed is a senior home where careers go to die. The bags of sh--s run the joint exists on all levels, even down to ICs. My manager is such a man and will fire you for trying to be thought leader.

Sadly I think @devz+1t0BQA4x nailed it. RT and JH are useful id--ts. Absolutely worthless do nothings but apparently these days that’s a feature not a bug.

Are you kidding? RT is perfect for this job. DD has no illusions that engineering will produce any real innovation. He just wants to keep the wheels on as long as possible to keep the money flowing. That’s RT’s whole job, to grease the tracks with bullsh-t and keep things from falling apart too badly. The fact that he knows so little about engineering is a big positive: he’ll never feel a sense of shame or like he’s wasting his talent peddling nonsense. And he’s having the time of his life going around the world to smile and get hot chocolate and placate customers just enough to keep the money flowing a little longer. It’s a match made in heaven from DD’s perspective so why would they wreck it?

If you care about making a positive mark on the world, you either need to not be working at Riverbed, or you need to be putting in the bare minimum here and finding a hobby that does do some good.

Why indeed. Any ideas or speculation. So typical of corporate America….people who actually do things to keep the lights and things moving forward are rarely acknowledged by management while the blowhard gasbags who talk big but actually do little….are rewarded. RT And the people he brought in are just worthless….talk big, do nothing. Who cares any more
