Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Leadership teams traveling to offsites to attend FIFA World Cup Games

Is it a bit tone deaf that leadership teams are traveling to Mexico and Canada for “offsites” to attend World Cup games? Nike is a sports company and employees should embrace the World Cup but when increases are 0% to 2% and PSP will be , this might not be a priority when there will probably be more layoffs coming

It’s been a joke for over 20 years about “Management meetings in Sunriver”…

Basically if you are Director or above (well mostly SD’s and VP’s) you literally have those offsites as a Nike benefit. It might as well be listed on Zero in the HR benefits handbook.

@de This isn’t something that just applies to World Cuo! I’ve watch HR teams take extravagant “offsites” while posting to their social stories like they are on vacation. I’ve watched teams go to events that exceed the “gifting and entertainment policy” and act like the exception to the rule. They make vacations out of their so called “offsites”. Can you honestly say you ever seen something fruitful come back from an offsite? Raise of hands! It’s a drunk fest where extramarital affairs are taking place. Yet we can’t figure out why it’s 2%? Id--ts!

Pathetic! It starts at the top and that’s why we are where we are. We have leaders that are allowing this to happen and embarrassingly enough, employees that are even too blind to see. They do their expense report and it just doesn’t click. You go to work for work! Make sport a daily habit after you work and not on company time and a company dime. There should be no traveling. There should be no “offsites” aka “let’s call it a meeting and get drunk every night and eat fancy food all day!” Nike leadership has just become an embarrassment and when leadership at the top is deaf - the company won’t survive. I see employees post photos on their social media pages and you can’t blame them when their leader set the stage and made it ok.

Cost savings is only for directors and below. While we sweat it out trying to save $ in cloud costs and loose talent in the name of cost savings, our sr Directors and VPs keep burning though millions for their entertainment.
