Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Don't make the same mistake I did

My manager told me for years that I was the backbone of the team. Then I asked about a promotion and got told I was too important where I was. That's when I realized that being valuable at DXC doesn't get you ahead. It gets you stuck.

The only way to move is for your role to become obsolete and you fall onto the bench. At which point it's a race to get a new role before you get laid off. Although most of us want that anyway so don't put much effort in. There's little point applying for a role that you only did the foundation training on last week. Clients want experts.

There's no promotion in place. You can only get promoted into an open role.

Even then, if you are in north America or Europe you can't be promoted regardless. Other places yes into an open role that's no more than two levels above where you are you could get a promotion.

Whatever your boss told you op is not true and they know it.

@dk In my country there has been no such promotions for the past few years. People may only become "backup supervisor" - additional tasks to their current role for the same money.

@de whatever happened to people being promoted until they got promoted into a position they couldn't do and became incompetent management. We still seem to have a lot of those around!

The manager was right though. If you work hard and give a damn about DXC, you will be very difficult to replace. :) that is why they want to keep you down - it is hard to find a good drone.

Companies are no longer here for the good of their staff. It's all about the execs pay and share price. It's all illusion and spin. Everyone for themselves. I used DXC to build my fortune as it hasn't got a clue what it's doing. So I take the salary while the id--t manages work it out.

I was literally looted a decade of my life, being told that I am the best, indispensable, exceeded expectations etc. - but realized how life is outside when I came out of this place.

Folk - believe in yourselves and get out - there is definitely life outside of this place.

Yep don't believe the management bs nor relying on your colleagues who will backstab you at any given time, simply do as little as possible, don't bother going up and beyond, not travel to client sites, you get shafted at all times, do internal and external training and wait for redundancy

Only id--ts stay for more than 2 years.
Every SI is the same - a load of sh*t
