@gj did I say ELT is not working hard. I am in fact working with them closely and I can see a drastic change in attitude and leadership style.

@ds the truth sometimes can sting which is why I fully expect to get downvotes. It doesn't bother me, I know I am right

@dr Why do you think someone from the ELT would waste their time to come here? They actually have things to accomplish and shareholders to report to. It's ok to coast but don't pretend like the ELT isn't working harder than you

dude, read the room. Do you make a cut by the number of downvotes? Wish this terribly done skeleton of a company used 10 oz of your conviction. Would be better than hearing - umm, umm, umm, strategy umm working umm, right mum? Pathetic.

I feel someone in the board or ELT is here. If so, ask yourself, what’s the strategy to acquire new logos? If you came from a startup before, did you consider Teradata, if not why ? I am sure you have friends in the valley, ask them why didn’t they choose Teradata and what would make them change their minds.

@dd Too true. Those companies left are either likely to be "legacy" companies too that'll be circling the drain OR Teradata is just tech debt that someone will eventually get round to ki-ling. No revenue growth happening.

But hey, at least those systems may have some new, shiny, and - of course - definately working correctly and useful code delivered by our estemmed colleagues.

The naivety of the development drone is ridiculious. Trust me, employers do not look favorably at Teradata on your resume. Almost every business has either migrated or is in the process of migrating to Snowflake and/or Databricks. NOBODY is migrating from Snowflake to Teradata. Over time you can see where the continuous erosion of the Teradata customer base will end up. I bet the only customers Teradata has left are the ones that determined migrating off Teradata is more expensive than just leaving it alone.

@b0 Oh, there's very much a need for our products. Problem is that our customers don't trust us/we're too expensive, have terrible onboarding/can't rely on the roadmap/too late/don't want us and are much better served by the competition.

Please, keep plugging away (delivering good products is foundational), but you're showing your technical naivity - great code really doesn't mean $$$. With net workloads, data and mindshare (and stock price!) moving away from us (and showing no signs of that movement slowing), I can't see how you can argue otherwise.

Hahaha. I don’t converse with drones. Please report back to us after 2025 results if you are still there and let us know how wonderful everything is.

@aw I'll be here buddy. Teradata will always be around in one form or the other, and it isn't blind adoration Steve McMillan is driving us forward. There's a need for our products. If you don't like what I'm saying you don't have to downvote me I'm open to having a respectful conversation about things here.

@ap

Unfortunately, you’ll be long gone when this company is through. But you’ll know your blind adoration of SM was enjoyed by all.

Teradata is never going away despite the naysayers here. It's going through a transformation and the board is steering us in the right direction. Will there be turbulence? Of course but eventually we'll be in a better spot

It can circle the drain for years until it’s been milked dry. But I doubt it will be a player in the industry again.
