Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Told Ya'll

I’ve been ringing the bell on this for over a year—both here and in person. The writing’s been on the wall, layoffs were always coming this year. The PTO change was the clear warning sign.

I got out earlier this year and stopped even checking this site. Honestly, I’m amazed so many are acting surprised. Pull your head out of the sand.

And don’t think it’s over. Next comes a “mini reorg” here, another one over there, then suddenly—“oops, redundancies!” More cuts.

Bottom line: leadership has a headcount number they need to hit. Their bonuses are tied to it. Things will break, just like the culture that’s been shifting downhill for the last decade. Same as the country—leadership has their plan, and the rest of us just get dragged through the tank while they hit their targets.

Best advice: build a path that’s about you, not about serving an employer.

PTO change coming! It's a bit better but not for all States. Management should be sharing that information soon if they haven't already. Maurice of course will in the big town hall meeting.

It must be noted ELG and above do not abide by same pto policy. They have unlimited pto all year long. How pathetic and shameful!

Im a Director and have to watch my pto hours so I can take time off when I need it! Never did i have to worry about this!!!!!

@ep I at least respect snakes. I don’t respect this bag of sl--e. He likely gets comped on how much more he can get for the band of butt clowns.

The head of total rewards is a total tool. Brought in to make cuts and collect dollars for leaders. PTO was just the start.

@dd Very smart! That is why you can only carry over 16 PTO but 80 wellness hours. I had not thought about it that way.

@ae how are leaders supposed to meet that 2% efficiency goal? HCSC is a company operating 10 years behind on most thing technology and even to implement something simple you need to go to 10,000 committees full of air head executives. That alone takes a few months at best. Also you are talking as if HCSC executives are these mad genius and not the cronies and well connected incompetents that they are. Of course they are going to lay people off to meet that "2%".

The pto cut and rearrangement to carry over was so blatant and it felt surreal to see everyone just swallow the pill and say nothing. I understand there's not much that can be done but people were adamant that it meant nothing about overall strategy. The pto cut on its own was one thing but the wellness days change was a very clear sign that they were going to be letting people go. Force people to use up the normal pto first and save the wellness days. Then when there's a layoff they don't have to compensate for wellness days and everyone used up the rest.

All divisions have a 2% administrative efficiency API goal. This is not a secret.

No “headcount number leaders have to hit” exists.
