@15j there’s good jobs in COV but only for people who dislike 2 hour commutes and 4 story townhouses. Seems like you don’t fall in that category, have fun at Pappadeauxs tonight

It will be easy to stay away from Covington because there are no jobs there. 😂

In Covington it will be very empty soon, perhaps some contractors will survive with the minimum necessary personnel, but the number of people in the building will decrease considerably.

@dp Beacon, LLOG, and Cantium are all on the north shore, Shell on the south shore. Shell sounds just as miserable as us, though.

@ed please stay far away from Covington then. Best place to work in this industry in the US, but please stay over there in Friendswood or whatever lame Houston burb you live in with your stone front wall house and 8 ft wide backyard.

I agree with your statement, "A move to Covington is a move to Chevron Gulag east", I did my time in the box, aka GOMBU. I was relieved when I got my transfer back to the real world.

A move to Covington is a move to Chevron Gulag east (SJV is Chevron Gulag west). Great if you have <10 years left in your career, but you'll be pigeonholed in an office with no career upside and no other nearby companies should you decide to leave. Remember also that Covington bungled the Shelf and sold it off about ten years ago. Give them 5 years (and MW needing dividend or bonus money) and they'll be selling off the deepwater.

Why not give some of the current employees at risk for layoffsan opportunity to apply first?

@d1 all of Chevrons projects future projects in GoA are brownfield too but that didn’t stop the Subsurface “Center of Excess” from pulling the majority of CVX AD employees to Houston.

Yes Chevron is actively interviewing for new positions in Covington Louisiana office

I would guess that most of Hess GOA assets are brownfield, so it makes sense to operate from Covington.

9 times out of 10, that external job posting is simply a compliance "check the box" for H1B renewal.

As for shifting HESS people to Covington. Forced attrition isn't a bug, it's a feature. They're wanting to find the few who are willing to bend over backward to retain their role, and then they'll let the rest of them leave.

@OP you mean the massive headcount reduction underway in Covington along with jobs moving from COV to HOU? That office will be a shell of its former self after this reorg. Which is crazy bc, like the Midland office, it’s relatively new and the work going on in those offices was incredibly beneficial to our bottom line.

So weird that they are moving Hess jobs to Covington. Especially strange since GOA is headquarters there and Hess is integrating assets to that BU. Makes no sense.
