Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

Clean your office desk out

I took all my personal belongings home, because tomorrow is Thursday and the only question is which Thursday (or Friday) is it going to be in the next couple weeks to get laid off in?

Not much of a chance seeing a major RIF with this war going on. Assembly and test will have plenty of work beefing up the inventory. And AI can't do their jobs. Management and engineering can't do those jobs either.
Maybe the union in Clifton will take pity on some of you and let you join.... entry level 1 .

@c4 Well it's not all his fault. He's too young and too broke to retire and he'll be gone soon anyway. They've had his number for a while. But we had a director of operations here who left about 4 years ago. That mo--n picked the worst employees in the building and promoted them. He made a lot of very stupid promotions and destroyed any continuity this place had. We were changing jobs every 6 months as some kind of id--tic cross training bullsh-t. The only thing that happened was the building was full of people trying to figure out their new job. It was a disaster. Even after he got fired, and his feckless successor, we are still working in the rubble he left behind. I think maybe he was a very devious mole.

As far as clifton, since the f-35 is replacing the f-16, and electronic warfare for the f-35 is made by bae systems, and since components for the f-35 made by L3 Harris are made in Georgia and florida, it doesn't look like Clifton will be paying much attention to what happens to the f-35. They're not going to be getting that work. And as the F-16 ramps down, that's the end of viper shield.
Clifton will be running out of work over the next year or so and so will the justification for keeping a 1 million square foot facility open.
When that happens, it will be a layoff that makes headlines with over a thousand people out of a job.
But think of how much money the cube will save the company when he does that. The stock will certainly rise again.

@cv - well wait a minute, think about it. Maybe they’re doing the people that get a RIF a big favor and it is in appreciation. I know in the past that I got kicked in the butt out the door and the next job I had was so much better. I probably never would have made the move if I hadn’t been forced to.

Wonder if that’s what the big secret meeting with cones security personnel blocking every door was at Palm Bay this morning. The name would have been quite ironic if so…..

Happy Employee Appreciation Day!

Oh today is March 5 not March 6!

L3H leadership removes employees the day before they appreciate the employees!

@cb - I applied for maritime and had a very long interview, but I did not get the job. Super happy, It turned out the way it did. I guess, it ended up the way it was meant to be.
Let us know the results of the maritime layoffs.

I learned long ago....never keep anything personal at work, on the desk or the computer. What I do have in my office I really don't care about if I take it with me on the last day. Because that last day could be...today. I've learned over my 40+ years that you should never become emotionally attached to work, and always be mentally and emotionally (and hopefully financially) prepared that today could be the day you no longer work for the current employer. Each weekend I review the local job boards, just to know, just in case.

Please keep all personal items in a bag that can be easily and quickly removed from your office or work area. If you get a short notice (under 2 days and definitely under 24 hrs) meeting invitation from your manager, assume you are going to be let go. Transport all your personal items to a friend or to your vehicle before the meeting. If you are let go, you will not be allowed back to your office or work area to retrieve your personal items. We have had multiple people wait months to receive their personal items after a RIF and some of their personal items were not returned to them even after HR was involved/notified.

@ad - “same as it ever was”, just like the middle ages (or any other time in history) where the Lords cared about the little people as long as they needed them, but if they didn’t need them, ……..,

Took my personal stuff out a while ago in Clifton.
Probably won't hear anything until next month but Thursdays around here are depressing and filled with angst.
Real engineers are worried while a fake "manufactured engineer" gets 6 figures for rearranging the furniture and ordering tools from harbor freight.
A glorified assembler and failed supervisor who ratted his way into a job for himself and his wife.
A joke.
