One thing is clear - you have to be your own boss, companies don't care(rightly so) about you, only the bottom line.
Enhance your skills, take up part time gig(let this be a wake up call)
Am back on unemployment line for 12 weeks(earlier was 36 weeks - Thanks Rick Scott for sc--wing that) and last week 60K workers were laid off across the US so will be joining them in searching for next job.
03/05 Update - Been almost 30 days since layoff and haven't received the severance yet. Getting run around stating to wait for an additional pay period - Ridiculous.
Will Centene allow voluntary early retirement if they are going to lay off?
@gc I’m not a je-k but I am absolutely being a je-k to that person who first replied. They’re in here claiming they worked two remote jobs at the same time and got laid off from one of them. So they still have an income, OP does not. They have no business being here sending that kind of reply and boasting about taking another job from someone else that people like OP could be looking for. They absolutely deserve my beef je-ky
Leave it to Americans to pile on some poor person working two jobs, yet couldn’t care less that the Senator he mentioned once ran HCA. We live to punch down on this country while the uber wealthy rip us off daily.
@d9 I know few people who dont have any skills at all in their respective positions but survived the layoffs. Its not just about skills, its about connections. So dont be a je-k.

@OP ironic that you mention Rick Scott. defrauded Medicare & Medicaid of billions of dollars yet instead of being in federal prison, he’s a US senator. that should be unacceptable no matter one’s politics.

Centene just su-ks. I took charge myself a year ago and was working another remote job at the same time I was at centene - I knew they were going to lay me of and sure enough...it happened. You are right ..keep your skills sharp and your network up to date at all time.
