Thread regarding IBM layoffs

GDP... How was yours?

A friend of mine still with IBM said his was much more than expected. Did Alvind and the PipMunks get more charitable?

As expected, 6.8% of base salary. At least, with this new system of publishing percentage for each rating, you know what you actually get and it is not a surprise like years prior.
That is certainly an improvement!

@ta
You are working to produce wealth to justify your salary,
You do not justify it by “learning “.
You are not at school anymore.

I am upskilling. How can they fire someone who continues to learn?

@d8 as someone who has lots of ibm badges and former think40 silver learner... you will be fired, and you can use your badges to clean your *ss up.

@p7 in Albany they put a lot with low rankings even if ok performers on PIPs. Not getting bonus is the least of what they have to worry about

I question this post. Everyone's GDP was based on % of Salary. 2xBase% for Top. 1xBase% for core. Zero for bottom. One's manager should have notified their employees regarding.... so there's no "more than expected" because expectations were set long before the payout. Manager's also didn't have an opportunity to fine tune the %'s to employees. So people at the top of core got the same as the bottom of core. I have plenty of good people in a very competitive organization that just happen to be in low because of forced grading curve. I doubt those people are happy getting absolutely nothing.

When fat pigs sit at a table, eating with no restrain, they make messes and drop crumbs on the ground. Little piggies can eat too.
That is IBM.
The feast will not last long, the fat pigs will seek other pastures to plunder. That is the life of pigs.

It was a percent of income. Like 3.5 if core and 7 if top and nothing if low. It was around there so way more than before for those not ranked low and they had to rank a minimum of one out of six low and a max of one out of six high
