Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

Spreading layoffs all year is ruining morale and productivity

To anyone in executive leadership who may read this. It's important that you understand the climate that is being created at FIS. I'm not going to argue in this post for having less overall cuts, but rather to get them over with next time.

I believe we've had 11 RIFs this year. What could have been a couple rounds has been spread out so every month or so, folks are seeing their peers or leaders getting cut.

It may seem like doing smaller cuts is easier for teams to manage, and keeping a key individual for another month or so may seem like a good idea to allow better transition, but here's the effect.

Very few people feel secure in their career here. Most people are unsure if they will be next. This is shared for most ICs up through many people at the VP level. People are less productive, engaged, and less passionate.

We're starting to see top talent look elsewhere (the most marketable and skilled people are the ones who can land another job).

Teams and leaders are spending a lot of time discussing the impending layoffs, rumors, and overall morale, which is more hidden waste.

Lastly, delaying these leadership RIFs has prevented any real communication about the future org structure. So the orgs have not been able to set clear direction for the rest of 2025/2026. This is still pending because there are leaders yet to be cut.

We are already under investing in our products relative to our competitors, but if we're going to have cuts, they should be larger and less frequent. These decisions will have ramifications.

@ee I miss GN as well. You’re right! When he was here you felt like you belonged. The culture shift since he left is staggering. I know, I know… It’s not about our feelings, but it damn sure makes you care more then than now, right? I’ve said for a while “this ain’t the same company” since Stephanie took the helm. Sad

I miss Gary. I remember him always saying this is the last place I want you to work. Always thought the redeeming thing about FIS despite other short coming was that it cared about it's employees. The pendulum has swung so far in the other direction, this has to be one of the worst cultural places to work. Almost every internal call starts with colleagues expressing fear, dismay, lack of strategy or understanding of what is coming next.

This is intentional. FIS is doing major layoffs below threshold for reporting, not communicating, and it is leaving an air of uncertainty and anxiety. What’s the benefit? It is a psychological strategy to control behavior and maintain compliance. It creates a culture of fear and might lead to higher turnover rates without the need for formal layoffs. Win for them!
After all, Stephanie F is being let go soon and she’s gotta get paid ya know?

They have removed all incentive to ‘go the extra mile’ as far as us working our butts off. No apparent rationale as to who gets the axe. At least not one that has been communicated. They do seem to be getting rid of a lot of mid-level resource manager type people. They did go overboard hiring those type of people. The whole HR process seems rudderless. It’s obvious that the powers that be just don’t care or are incompetent. How some deliverables are going to be met is beyond me. But I am certainly not going to work myself to death to accommodate over promised and under resourced deliverables.

@d8 - Is this actually true? I'd assume they'd take it a step further and adjust pay as well. Seems disastrous and very demoralizing

@d8 Is this a guess, or have you actually seen this?

Next up is job releveling. SVP’s move to VP, VP to Senior Director and so on.
Those that got let go may actually be the winners if they can land next gig.

They may read this but they absolutely do not care. We are truly viewed as “less than” by all of them but especially SF and Bob. At this point, they seem to enjoy firing people. SMH, this shouldn’t be legal.

They are slow rolling the layoffs to stay under the radar to avoid getting media attention.

This is very true, I have been unable to do the bare minimum the last few weeks, and I am a very passionate person about my job , I don’t feel like I am going to be able to do much because this is has not stopped at all , no break! You don’t need to study psychology to know the impact it is very expected!
