Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Rumor: Upcoming layoffs in Fraud department

There’s a heavy feeling of dread and uncertainty in the fraud call center. Employees are posting out to other jobs or going out on leave. Directors and upper leadership are silent but we know they must notice what’s going on too. I hate to feed into a rumor but the silence is loud.

Don’t we see rumors of fraud layoffs like every 3 months- but every area other than fraud gets laid off? If anything fraud gets more people 😂

If Bank Data Analytics in review again after collapsing 4 silos to one, then the culprit behind the total failure of BDA needs to be given to Tim, Doane. Sitting in high political chairs he misused millions dollars on projects that are scrap and introduced processes that are hard to crack for any leader who comes to review and say it's useless.
Bank analytical review board is keeping him safe but the nonsense he created under each step is costing USAA dollars per second. Did u know every table that moves from each data later needs to be manually approved and reviewed under BARB and one of the testing teams leader SB ( whose job is safe and gold and has been let go from JC Penney is a gamer. All her team does is to review every table manually and validate manually after migration under the name of Compliance) . Pretty Useless..
Wake up Prahalad Thota and fire the folks that are useless, not the ones that are paid high ... Cut the fat where its not needed.

@hm agree. Layoffs will occur mid October is my guess.

@ds I don’t think November, as the BOD will want those employees off the books prior to Q4 ending. Last year, I knew a few who were giving their notice in mid October, their 60 days ended right before end of year. Correct, like many companies USAA has a hiring freeze from Nov until early Jan 2026, so it’ll be at minimum 3 months before hearing back on any job postings.

@d7 There’s definitely that feeling of layoff dread in many areas of the bank with the people who are doing the work (not so much the leaders.)

Yes, they will do in Oct/Nov when everywhere hiring freezes till next 26 quarter...so its almost 3-6 months to hear any calls from recruiter

I think there’s a heavy feeling of dread across the entire org. I don’t think anyone is safe. Expecting layoffs in Q4. Wishing the best for us all.

@a8 I completely understand and am just as anxious. I've had a bad feeling that large layoffs are coming down the pipeline. All speculation on my end.

@a6 I’m not aware of any other departments. It’s a rumor so it could be false but it’s causing people to be anxious.

@OP Have they mentioned any other departments? I am in insurance sales and the time between calls is astounding. Upwards of 15 minutes. It has always been code red since I started in 2021.
