Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

They are offshoring everything across the board. If you're not looking for something else, start looking.

Several Medicaid markets are offshore restricted, and even more changed to that as of 1/1/25.

@d7+1jqzexywx - it’s not consistent. You will have one channel that showcases what you say, but same resources simply use another channel when needed.

Offshore PHI is not de-identified. They are accessing the same claims systems that onshore associates are. Medicaid and some groups restrict to onshore only but that’s it.

The offshore PHI is deidentified (encrypted). The member can be identified by a unique key that’s meaningless to offshore, but linkable stateside to the member’s PHI.
This means that very much of the work can be done offshore, but there’ll still be a need for a small number of stateside associates to fulfill our contractual and regulatory obligations.
Doesn’t mean it right, moral, efficient, etc, but it is what it is.

I don’t see how they can do this given the restrictions to sharing PHI offshore. Seems like a recipe for disaster….

As we engage in internal debates, often blaming offshoring for many of our challenges, it's essential to recognize that the true root cause lies in corporate greed, where leaders prioritize profit over people. While we criticize offshoring, it's crucial to take a broader view of the situation.

Recent news highlights an interesting development: Western companies are increasingly looking to expand and outsource to countries like India and the Philippines. However, the irony is that even within these countries, there's growing pushback. For example, in southern India, where American companies have been building vast IT hubs, the local population is voicing concerns. The rapid expansion is leading to significant deforestation, and the residents are resisting this transformation.

While the establishment of these hubs creates jobs, it also brings about environmental destruction. Many in these regions do not want their land turned into concrete jungles, nor do they want to sacrifice their natural resources for corporate interests.

This situation underscores a broader global issue of corporate greed. As global citizens, it's clear that both US citizens and Indian citizens are united in their desire to avoid exploitation—whether through outsourcing or through the overwhelming control exerted by multinational corporations.

The real culprits behind these problems are those at the top—corporate leaders and executives who prioritize profits over people and the environment. This situation is unfortunate and highlights the systemic issues that need to be addressed on a global scale.

What they are doing is literally TREASON.

This is illegal, and Americans should all be insisting that the people responsible for this be held accountable for this illegal activity!

"treason /trē′zən/
noun

The betrayal of allegiance toward one's own country, especially by committing hostile acts against it or aiding its enemies in committing such acts.

The betrayal of someone's trust or confidence.

The offense of attempting to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance, or of betraying the state into the hands of a foreign power; disloyalty; treachery.

This is 100% true. They are moving to offshore everything they can. There will be minimal onshore support for the majority of lines of business.
