Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I was laid off, but I'm okay with it

In fact, I wish I’d left sooner. I stayed because Verizon still had this reputation that made it sound like a career making place to work, and everyone around me kept reinforcing it. Looking back, I spent years putting up with bad leadership and a toxic environment because I thought the name alone made it worth it. The hardest part is realizing how much time I burned before accepting the place had changed a long time ago.

@d4
so if you were not being laid off from Verizon, you would be still working at Verizon , correct ?
Before you got laid off from Verizon , Were you happy in Verizon ? How was your family saw you during your employment at Verizon ?

For those who left one way or another and found a job
How long did it take?
What area were you? IT, sales, etc
How much cut (or increase) you got for salary/benefits?

My layoff in November was devastating. I couldn't imagine what I was going to do after 20+ years. The job market was vast but finding another job with similar pay was not going well. Then I started focusing on finding a job that I would enjoy, pay my bills and a company I could grow with. I found it in a completely different industry and now I couldn't imagine going back to Verizon, no matter the amount of money. My family has noticed a massive change in me. I'm at a company that is highly employee focused. The glaring difference in the toxic, numbers only approach of Verizon versus where I am now is unbelievable now that I am away from it. It turned out to be the greatest thing that's ever happened to me professionally. I have read tons of posts on here where people have said similar things but always thought it was just a disgruntled ex employee trying to talk bad about Verizon. They were right, theres something better out there. Your sanity and mental health is worth more than the paycheck. If they had kept me I would be so much more miserable than I already was, especially with the increased work load. And now with looming layoffs every month and knowing the stock price with start to tank as the laid off employees start to disconnect their lines due to losing their discount and a network left to operate without the workforce to maintain it properly its going to get worse. I forsee Verizon being the next cellular company to nolonger exist unless something drastic changes. I hate this for those that have worked hard their careers at Verizon to make it grow only to watch leadership turn it into what it is today

It’s a toxic breakup at first. Then once your out, you realize how unhealthy of a relationship it really was.

I took the VSP Dec 2024, best decision I've ever made. I have been back as a contractor the past 8 months, 2nd best decision and so have my former co workers contracting along side of me. AI will allow VZ to merge with China mobile or India Tel.

I wasn’t laid off and I’m okay with it. Perhaps my name being Claude is helping to stay employed here. And my zodiac sign is Gemini.

I am with you on that! I got the boot February - I have been thanking my lucky stars that I was laid off because God knows I would not have on my own. Now I am at a company that actually values me.

@OP I felt the same way when I was laid off in November 2025. More is coming. I'm so glad I'm not there anymore!
