HR system is down. ODW is near.

Is completely down! Dell's shutting down the entire job portal until May 4th. That's gotta hurt.

@fk Actually there's a lot of research suggesting that AI is more suited to replace c suite roles than entry level. Of course our leaders will ignore that because they only cre about keeping their jobs.

@c7 You are wrong. Workday is going away and that is where we submit PTO. I have no clue what it's being replaced with but it IS Maverick related - The NDA project.

They took out the PTO request portion because workday is being decommissioned/resigned/taken down, obviously. All that's left is general information that doesn't require management approval right now.

Essentially, when you request PTO there is automation involved. You request it, that request gets sent to HR as a pending request, then an automated email is sent to your manager to accept/deny PTO. Manager sees email and says Yay/Nay, which then updates the PTO request and deducts xyz hours from your time off.

That has all been decommed and turned off as of a week or so ago. We are now awaiting the new workday replacement which I guess is supposed to be in place in the next week? Nobody REALLY knows tbh.

But long story short, workday is simply being replaced. Nothing else more to it than that.

ODW = Maverick (the NDA with 30k people part of it and so secret that ChatGPT knows all about it!)
Maverick = Dell putting all their cookies (tools) in a jar called Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI.)
OCI = new cloud based tools that are centralized in one location that also run on AI.

Basically ODW IS the ultra seceret NDA called Maverick. Which is a total disaster still

@d2 d-mbest thing I ever heard. AI is taking away entry level jobs because it can do entry level work. Still need senior levels to make sure the AI is correct. Just take it on face value that everything it generates is right.

@c7 30 years here and never once entered a request to take time off. I have always just told leadership when I will be out of the office and that is sufficient for them

If you have 2 years or less you are not in the WFR target bucket because of your lower overall $ cost. The leadership assumption is everyone with 2+ years is AI expendable. Seems to make a lot of good sense. Thoughts from anyone?

Someone on our extended team asked in a large attended meeting "the tool wont allow me to ask for vacation after _.). Answer was "its all being replaced". The pessimist in me thought "they are going to have MASSIVE layoffs after the Tom Cruise character named project goes live...because they (Dell) actually feels its going to eliminate duplicity in roles immediately after launch.

Hope I'm wrong for those of you that are left.

ODW is to streamline. It will make you a more efficient worker. If it does make you a more efficient worker, be prepared to get laid off because ODW may allow the company to get away with having less people. That is it. Nothing else. The sooner people accept this, the sooner people will have a clear head to make plans.

The company is not here for you. The company exists to make money for their shareholders. They don't care about your feelings. They will give you the bare minimum for salary. These aren't your family members.
