I just got my email with all of my information on the amount I will receive weekly and the job search log and everything. Just putting this out there for those who will need to find another job. Hey, this will pay for my medical benefits that I am paying for on the exchange so I'm SOOO happy because it will allow me to be unemployed longer if necessary and I won't use up all of the money they gave us. The goal is to NOT use it but doubtful that will be the case this time. Good luck everyone on your future endeavors! :-)

Can someone explain how to appeal with TWC? I was denied unemployment benefits. TWC said even though the early retirement was offered it’s still like I quit because I could have denied the offer and kept working. I cannot locate our original offer emails from Corebridge.
Please stop. HR and other employees are already aware of this site. By making your actions public, you risk providing them with evidence and preparation to contest your unemployment claim. This could significantly work against you.

This was unnecessary. You can definitely get unemployment. A quick Google search will answer that for you. Now that you know you can get it , go ahead and apply… or don’t and miss out. There’s no reason to be a je-k about it.
I was approved, I live in Texas. They replied after speaking with Corebridge and said I quit. I responded and said I only quit because I felt my job was at risk if I didn’t. I informed them I had emails to prove it. They asked for the email and the following week they started paying me unemployment.

@2np what reason did you put? In texas it does not allow retirement: either layoff or quit. ??
If you have received one or more unemployment benefit payments, would you mind sharing your state and guidance on how you worked through “retirement” as the cause of termination when the state verifies your termination.

I have applied for unemployment over the phone with a representative. She asked if I received a pension and I said no. I didn't think the buyout was considered a pension. Should I go online and update this amount or call them back?
If it’s irrevocable then it’s no longer voluntary. True voluntary allows one to change their mind. It’s more of a soft force out under the disguise of voluntary early retirement.
Corebridge said they wouldn’t deny it!
I'm the OP and NO I WASN'T LYING!! and NO, I'M NO WHERE NEAR RETIREMENT AGE!!! They like to frame it as "Early Retirement" like it's some great thing. It's NOT at least in my case!!
This is for Texas. I filed immediately the Monday after the 9th. Within a few days I received a series of emails with all of the unemployment information. I thought it was completely approved but apparently it's not all the way yet. I have filled in the work search forms and then I filed for payment this past Monday. I was supposed to be paid today. But, they sent me an email last night saying they were going to send me a document by U.S. mail with an access code to verify my identity. I was like what??? I called them really upset this morning and yelled at the guy and how stupid this was.
When I filed for the payment, it asked a series of questions and if I had received a lump sum. I did not want to lie and explained about the VERP and I mentioned that I felt threatened into having to take it by the language they used in those emails and said I could show proof of that and that I wasn't anywhere near retirement age.
So now, I just got a call from some lady there. I didn't answer because I thought it was a telemarketer. I've left a message. I'm sure they are going to try to deny it. SO, to who ever you are up above saying I'm lying BTFO!!

I thought Verps were all lump sum payments to be reported in 2025?

I’m not the OP. I’m in Texas. It is possible for retired persons to get unemployment, once the severance timeframe has passed. It required a little research, but according to the Texas Workforce website it is a possibility.
@OP+1jv31jp92 - what state are you in?
What state do you reside? I thought you are a retired employee and can't collect unemployment.
