Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

Congressman Dwight Evans

I contacted his office about the Comcast layoffs. They say they are working diligently to get the economy back on track and welcome feedback on ways to improve. They also recommend discussing with state and local officials.

It doesnt hurt to reach out .. takes 30 seconds on his website

Like the guy, but he is likely pro outsourcing and H1B. Voted for folks like him my entire life, today I can't find another job in my area.

Meanwhile, everyone is suing to hire more H1B workers.

People like Roberts run this damn place. Any......any elected official is beholden to them because of campaign contributions and just the shear economic power the Billionaires have. It's disgusting but how it has been for a long time and will be this way for long after we are gone. There is no level playing field, it is all tilted in their favor.

@mm move to Russia. They like people like you who don’t question the government.

@mm you sound like a crazed disgruntled l-wlife. Please move out of this country, we don’t want you here.

Nobody thinks their job will be saved. The economy is obviously getting worse across the board. I agree with OP. It doesn’t hurt to make your voice heard instead of whining and catastrophising.

@j0 and you sound like a child who is asking mom to tell dad not to ground them.
And $10k in Comcast donations may not seem a lot, but he took that money, and now you want us to believe this politician “listened” to feedback and will do something about big bad Comcast to save your job. Listen, Learn, Act, B-o-o-m. Happy delusion day.

@gw you sound like a pleasant human being. Why is this city so negative? OP didn’t say Congress will save your job.

And $10k isn’t a lot of money. Congresspeople aren’t completely beholden to donors and some of them actually like to do good.

This has serious “I’m doing my part!” energy. Bad news: Congress isn’t saving your job.

@OP Is this the same congressman Dwight Evans from Philadelphia who accepted a $10,000 campaign donation from Comcast just in the 2024 campaign election?

Does anyone remember COMPAQ when we were hounded by leadership to contribute to a political action committee and all we got was a pen?

Contacting your local politician to give your “feedback” is just as powerful as completing those useless annual eNPS surveys where the phrase “Listen, Learn, Act…BO-M,” was constantly screamed at you. Well at least we now know what “BO-M” stands for; BO-M you’re out of a job.

@ds why so cynical? During the shutdown, Democrats tried to get additional funding for NBC and other networks. Congress has the power of the purse. They could close Comcast down or give it a hundred billion $$s if they really wanted.

Realistically they need to stop the offshoring and layoffs. I dunno how they do it, but they are smart. They want you to think they cant do anything but they really can.
