Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

It's Been A Week

You'll find me lurking in comment sections trying to provide neutral and reasonable commentary under the handle of NCS.

I really like this site and the ability for employees to share thoughts and opinions with the ability to remain anonymous. Or, so we'd hope. A lot of people are disappointed, upset, and I'm sure you're feeling kinda helpless after the comments in the all hands on Monday. There are definitely some trolls in here bullying people around, which is unfortunate. We all know that HR, Legal, and the execs keep a eye on this forum. They know we're upset and why. It's just a matter of them actually listening to us. They want us to take the TTUS, but nobody wants to because leadership consistently shows us that they don't actually want us to talk to them. Lookin' at you, GK. GK, you should probably take a note from your direct on how to be a leader after the PCS call today. Was it genuine? Not a clue, but at least she left the door open instead of laughing at questions she found repetitive and didn't want to outright answer.

GK, this used to be a really good place to work, and now it is no longer that. You are in a position to make it that way again, and it starts with respecting and listening to your employees. Being direct is fine. Being disrespectful and condescending is another. Just because you can't relate doesn't make it not real. Just because you insulate yourself, doesn't mean morale isn't low outside of your c-suite. For a bank that prides itself on reputation you sure didn't seem to have that thought at the forefront, and I hope you learned something from this. You probably didn't, but I can hope. Empathy seems to be in short supply when you're a millionaire. Humanity even less so. Leadership is hard, but you can lead without being an a--hole, usually. You seem to love the history, but you're missing a critical piece. Richard, and his love for his people and the bank. Be more like Richard. You can make this a great place to work again, it's quite literally in your power.

Employees, stop beating on each other here. All it does is prove that we're not worth respecting. Some of what I've seen here is worse than what was on that call. We're in an impossible spot in an impossible job market. If anyone has ideas on how to actually make them hear us (and not a one day walkout, that's d-mb and will literally do nothing how do you think the place runs on holidays) until the job market improves, this would be the best place to discuss it. Or you can troll this post, whatever brings you joy I guess.

Completely agree. There is no c suite leadership to drive vision and strategy. Without this, there is no unified direction to execute . It becomes a toxic place to work

Quit projecting and word vomiting all over people here. You clearly have your opinions, and that's fine. But the way you're talking to people isn't leaving any room for productive dialogue, so it's essentially you just blowing steam to make yourself feel better.

Good luck with that.

Big b@115, you are posting during company time once again. You are the drain. You are the one who people need to pick up slack for. Do your job. Get off the internet.

NCS sounds like you don't like the taste of your own medicine. You reap what you sow. Just because your fragile feelings can't handle the reality of being told something that you don't like or agree with because you're too lazy to do a simple thing as RTO and performing your job that pays you doesn't make it rude or hateful. Others are doing the hard work picking up your slack and helping you save your job or what's left of it meanwhile you're online venting on a forum. Trying to make others conform to your needs and accommodations. Some of you clearly have never worked a hard day in your life. Reset your career and become a janitor or fast food worker and see how much harder others have it with little to no pay and you'll start appreciating what you have now.

If you would notice, you're the only person being rude and hateful in this thread.

That says everything about you, and I hope you can see that regardless of whatever steel backbone you seem to think you have you're just as disposable as the rest of us. At least I'm not in here being terrible to other people. But, whatever helps you sleep at night I guess.

Ironic how about you be the person that others would want to work with. Instead of complaining and whining pick up your slack and show up to work like everyone else. Instead of making others do your work why don't you do your own work instead of dragging down the team. A reflection works both ways. It doesn't only work when you want to reflect on others and can't look at yourself in the mirror and hold yourself accountable.

If you can leave, leave.

If you can’t for what ever reason. Stay strong whatever time you have left the real boss is:

Your family
Your lifestyle
Your time outside work

Be the leader you want in your life.

we were hiring so many unquantified people

Actually, most people can count them just fine.

NCS no common sense. Look around you everyone is laying off no matter the industry. There are hundreds of people who are willing to take your job who may even be more qualified and make no complaints about RTO. Gone are the covid years where no one wanted to work or there were more roles available then applicants and we were hiring so many unquantified people without proper screening. This is the new age there will be those who will rise to the challenge and those who will not make it because they're too focus on complaining and whining.

Also worth mentioning that the people, or person, who gets beat over the head most of the time is probably some management clown ki-ling time between tee times.

No. It doesn't matter what employees do, management will not willingly respect employees. Employees can, however, use their leverage to gain concessions from management in exchange for the continued operation of the company. The only way to demand concessions from management is to demonstrate that the foundation of the business is not them, it's us, using the only language they understand, which is money. Organized disruption of income (and no I don't mean a single day walkout, or individuals trying to get petty revenge) is the only way to earn concessions from management.

Talk to your teammates outside of company time, without using company resources like Teams. Get to know them, they are probably in similar situations. Think about what points of the company's process of gaining income or generally doing business your team interacts with. Consider reading "Labor Power and Strategy" by John Womack, and discussing the contents of the book with your coworkers without using company resources.

Brava! I have been gone from the bank for a while. I was laid off after a nasty row with a C-Suite id--t. It has taken me 4 mos to find a new job. But just received an offer today, similiar role but pay is 22% higher. There is life after the bank. Keep your heads up and don't turn on each other.
