Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

Quitting is for losers

Just want to say that all the people complaining here are toxic. When we joined this company, we committed our focus and energy to help increase revenues and be a part of a dynamic team. When we become negative, badmouthing on an anonymous forum, we are really showing immaturity and a lack of gratefulness and gumption. The real ocus should be: What is good for OT in the long term, and how can we all play a small part in that? If that means having to go into the office a few days a week, so be it! Think of the benefits of interacting with your coworkers in terms of wisdom transfer and enthusiasm - why don't people focus on this?

@OP, now that Mark is gone. Maybe, we can finally be rid of the toxicity cascading down from him and have no need for this forum.

And this, ladies and gents, is what happens when Gen Z confuses performative work culture with strong leadership. We walked away so they could keep idolizing Mark B and stay corporate peasants.

At least we know Mark Barrenshit AKA @OP+1k1vf9v85 is reading our posts. One of the many horrible human beings. Not worth the air they breathe.

Go down with this company, and you’ll gain some real-life experience.

@ez
Unless you’re d-mb enough to think the RSA stay on bonus means anything. It doesn’t. They will fire first, and that’s a true story!! All that promised money, gone.

Things OpenText employees DON'T say:

"Things are goin' great
And they're only gettin' better
I'm doin' all right
Gettin' good raises
The future's so bright
I gotta wear shades
I gotta wear shades."

If quitting is for losers, why does Mark B quit on so many employees every time he does layoffs? Are you calling Mark B a loser?

@cx

So "leadership" decided that these employees and the work they did weren't important enough to retain. Let them figure out any problems cascading down from those actions.

Only when the accumulated issues hit critical mass can we ever hope for an improvement. If we take on extra time and again to clean up their messes, all we will have is more messes.

@OP

You are right about one thing. Quitting IS for losers. I'm here till the end - malingering, misusing resources, slowing down work, creating or reinforcing mistakes or confusion. The list is limitless.

But Quitting, never¡

What is good for OT long term ... Oh corporate ladder snitch in purest form right? :)

Basically OT destroyed many functional teams and tried to replace it with AI (actually indians)

@cw clearly drank the kool-aid.
Most of us know better and are trying to get what we can out of the company in one way or another.

@cw I wanted to support your comments until I read this: "not my problem. I'm not a trainer. my coworkers can figure things out. or not. I don't care."

Those of still here are suffering with other people's jobs dumped on us and some of us, like me, are trying our hardest to not let other co-workers down. I think it is the relationships we build that get us through our day. I have been applying for other jobs but not had any luck yet. So, yes, I agree with everything you said except that one line. Hate OT...join the club, but if you can help a co-worker out, especially the ones that are still trying to make things bearable, maybe you should. If not, totally ok...I don't want to get into an argument with you. You have to do what gets you through the day as well...not meant as sarcasm.

oh boy...

"Just want to say that all the people complaining here are toxic."

so not a single valid complaint here? every one is totally baseless and has been posted solely to be toxic?

not off to a fantastic start but let's press on.

"When we joined this company, we committed our focus and energy to help increase revenues and be a part of a dynamic team."

no. i am here purely out of self-interest.
i don't know what kind of ceremony happened on your first day, but i did no such thing.

a team starts at the very top. is leadership doing all it can on a daily basis to foster a productive and team-focused environment?

"When we become negative, badmouthing on an anonymous forum, we are really showing immaturity and a lack of gratefulness and gumption."

so, no matter how bad leadership makes it for us, ignore it. put on your sunshine britches, whistle a cheery tune and find more ways to increase bonuses for those at the top.

"The real ocus should be: What is good for OT in the long term, and how can we all play a small part in that?"

I care as much about OT in the long term as senior leadership cares about us. I am looking for as many paychecks for the littlest work, until it all comes crashing down.

"If that means having to go into the office a few days a week, so be it!"

yep, another instance of poor treatment where we should just buckle up, work harder, and increase productivity.

'Think of the benefits of interacting with your coworkers in terms of wisdom transfer and enthusiasm - why don't people focus on this?"

not my problem. I'm not a trainer. my coworkers can figure things out. or not. I don't care.

and I won't even start on enthusiasm...

I sincerely hope this was a trolling exercise. if you actually believe any of this drivel, you are truly beyond hope.

If you had more experience, you would understand that it's the people at the top of the company that are toxic. I've been around long enough to remember companies that truly cared about their employees. Cost of Living Increases EVERY YEAR. Bonuses when the company had a phenomenal year.
But this company has horrible leadership. They made this company toxic by forcing their social and political opinions on people that don't give a rats a__ about their opinions.
They lied when they forced employees to be vacinated or be fired, demanded you show proof of it and then tried to walk it back later saying, I fought for you not to have to do this.
They made it toxic when we found out, it doesn't matter how hard you work, because only one on your team will be rewarded for it. The rest of you, by mandated orders from the top were intentionally made less than great on your review, JUST so they could justify not giving you any kind of increase in your pay. So, while inflation went up big time in the last 5 years, you had no way to combat any of it.
Grow Up op. It's fine to have great colleagues that you work with and truthfully for sometimes. You learn alot for each other and care about each other, but the company.... forget about it! They are a souless group who deserve everyones condemnation.

@OP Oh Honey...

This must be one of your first jobs ever! I love your enthusiasm, but let me make one thing abundantly clear. Large companies like this literally Do. Not. Care. About. You.

If they did, you'd have unlimited snacks in the break room, you'd have PTO that you can roll over, you'd have decent matching 401k, you'd have raises, you'd be paid equal or above market, you would have benefits that are worth raving about. Those are just the tip of the iceberg, but most of all, you'd have leadership who knew that their success was because of the hard work of the employees, and they would celebrate that.

Instead what you are seeing is Rif's, office closures, no promotions, no raises, and the emails that say "we are all in this together, we need to cut costs, do more with less... etc". If we were all in this together, then why do the ELT's still get bonus/parachutes (imagine how much that CFO got for coming and staying for 4 months to jump ship.... probably more than you'll make in 30 years).

You're adorable, but naivety doesn't suit you.

@OP How old are you ?
I don't normally reply in this forum and just happy to read but this needs a reply.
How do you support a great company that is being sabotaged by narrow focused management which you cannot do anything about ?
Management are supposed to look after the customers and employees and grow the company. Everyone benefits. I can see everyone supporting such a company. Instead we have this management by numbers.
Despite the efforts of your colleagues saving costs, working after hours and on the weekends (not getting paid), you see them being layoff. Benefits are being eroded for cost savings but then money are being wasted on mismanagement. There are no work security, low or no pay rise or bonuses. Letting off steam anonymously is the way to keep my sanity.
When you try offering an alternative views to an argument, you will have uninformed management trying to sabotage you.
For your sakes, leave while you are young, retain your innocence and be supported by your parents for a company that is actually growing and not cannibalizing's itself.
