@dv , of course they don’t want to retain ALL of us. Just those of us who are productive and maintain a positive attitude.
The question is what would cause them to execute the pension elimination scenario.
Typicall The first step in eliminating a pension is not letting any new employees in.

The surest sign that the pension will be eliminated is a pervasive negativity about its value on these message boards. The pension will be eliminated when management believes you when you tell them that it is no longer an effective way to retain you.
This is easy. Not being able to meet publicly stated structural cost savings goals and having a frantic brainstorming session on how to meet them in time.
I’ll bet 2029Q3 pension ends.

They’ve start with making vague statements about ‘more flexibility’ in the 401(k) plan and potential changes to retirement eligibility. It sounds very similar to what 3M did before they froze their pension. Nothing concrete has been announced, but the pattern is familiar.
